Q3 numbers are in, and caffeine intake is back where it belongs. (High.) 168 Diet Cokes and 147 Flaherty’s runs (mostly iced coffee) fueled 162 new projects AND 188 completed ones. Thank you to our clients for trusting us with your brand. And now, it’s officially hot coffee season here in New England!

Happy National Coffee Day!!!

Today we are honoring the coffee sleeve. Jennie likes to think she is too tough for one… but we have seen her cave.

When Styrofoam cups started getting banned, paper cups took over, and that resulted in a LOT of burned fingers. After spilling a scalding coffee in his lap, Jay Sorensen sketched, tested, and later patented a simple fix. The Java Jacket was born in 1991.

Today about 1 BILLION are sold every year, and one is even in a museum!

So, design is everywhere, even wrapped around that morning cup of coffee. We will raise a mug to that!

The full story is in the comments.

AI, EPS, PNG, JPG, and now SVG? It is indeed a lot of letters.

However, SVG is not just another file format, it is actually code, not a flattened image. That is why it scales to any size without getting blurry and loads faster on websites.

One thing to know. SVG is built for the web, not for print. For anything headed to a print vendor, you will still want your AI or EPS file.

Another thing learned! And we are sure there will be more.

We were curious about the history of Labor Day... so We thought we would share what we learned!

Whether you sweat on the factory floor or build PowerPoints in pajama bottoms...
Happy Labor Day!

If we have seemed a bit disjointed lately, we have a good excuse.

Emma, who we have come to depend on to keep us current and make the studio young and fun again, has left us for six months to pursue her dream of attending the Disney College Program.

She is now living at Disney World, living her dream, and commuting every day to her job as a PhotoPass Photographer at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Hard to compete with that!

We are so excited for her and SO proud that she went after something she has always wanted to do!

Meanwhile, if this post gets up correctly without her, it will be a miracle. Our next one will probably have to be faxed.

You go, girl!

AI can do a lot these days, but it still can't do everything, especially when it comes to your logo!
We've had a few businesses come to us lately with an AI-generated logo they love, only to hit a wall when their print vendor asks for a vector file.

Here's the deal: AI-generated graphics are raster images (built from pixels), which means they get blurry when enlarged. Great for a quick concept, not so great when you need that logo on signage, apparel, or a giant trade show banner.

A professionally designed vector logo, on the other hand, is fully flexible. Colors, type, layout, all editable, all scalable, no limits.

Our advice? Use AI to get the ball rolling! It's a fantastic way to communicate your vision. Then bring in a designer to turn that idea into a complete, flexible logo system built to work everywhere your business needs it to.

Boy do we miss getting together in person!

We had a visit from the marketing pros at Vicinity Energy and the brilliant team at Brunello Inc. for an all-hands branding session.

We hashed out everything from 10-point body copy color to next year's overall brand direction.

Thank you, Melissa, for carving out the time for all of us to get together. It was so fun to gather with a group who loves what they do!

Thank you all for making the very soggy trip to Millbury. We loved having everyone in the studio!

Well, as designers, we don't love numbers. But we always look forward to doing the math on these.

The Q2 stats are in! Our stream of caffeine intake and creative output continues to exceed expectations.

A special shout out to Pat Conley and Cake Shop Cafe for keeping us caffeinated, and an even bigger thank you to all of our clients for keeping the projects pouring in!

We thought we would share this fun fact in honor of National Social Media Day!

Did you know the world's first social networking site, Six Degrees, had more than 3.5 million users in the late '90s?

Pretty impressive for a platform that existed before smartphones, Wi-Fi, and selfies.
