I try to infuse my joy in creating in every design I put out into the world. My background is in fine art and graphic design and I am always striving to grow as an artist and designer. Voting is open for Spoonflower's Faded Resort challenge. My entry, Cabana Republic, is a block-print pattern featuring stripey vintage beach cabanas with a cotton candy attitude. I was going for the good kind of faded – sun-bleached, salt-aired, and well worn from hundreds of beach parties. This fabric has partied far more than I have.

This made my whole entire day.

Alyssa (https://www.instagram.com/theprairiemisfit/) got her hands on my "Louisiana Bullfrog Fête" fabric from Spoonflower and turned it into the most perfect little mini dress -- and honestly I cannot stop staring at it. The way she handled the placement, the silhouette, pairing it with the striped fabric for the edging and the belt... she just gets it. And I am tickled pink!

This is exactly what I design for. Seeing your artwork walk around in the world is an amazing feeling. Thank you Alyssa!

The brief was "Modern Nautical" - my brain said ocean vista, sea creatures, sweeping coastal atmosphere. My hands apparently had other plans.

"The Real McKoi" started as one thing and ended up as something else entirely. The final product is a closely-tessellated Art Nouveau koi pattern that owes as much to Escher as it does to the sea. I dig - I hope you do too!

A little late in posting as I was out of town last week - but my Eat, Pray, Swim design came in 16th place out of 1,663 entries in the Beachy Boho challenge. Hoohoo!!
