A word of caution.

If you are using, or thinking of using Microsoft OneDrive, please do some research first. A large number of people are complaining the OneDrive apparently considers its cloud storage of your files as primary and your computer storage as secondary. That seems to mean that if you delete something from OneDrive cloud, Microsoft also deletes it from your computer and anywhere else you may have directed it.

Be very careful with OneDrive. This is not how cloud storage is supposed to work. I would hope Microsoft is working to fix this.

I think AI is making these so much worse. Be highly suspicious of ANY emails you receive. And have good malware protection.

Fake emails pretending to come from the US Social Security Administration try to get targets to install ScreenConnect for remote access.

Emotet Malware and variants is the latest big threat to Information System with a 447% increase since November, 2021. Update your systems! And if you run a WordPress site, update it and all add-ons. They seem to be the hardest hit.

Internet safety.
Three rules that will greatly protect you and your computer.

1. Don't install ANY program that you weren't looking for.
A subset of this rule is watch carefully for add-on programs.Many programs you are looking for have a check box during the install process to add on additional program/s. Always uncheck these!

2. Update everything often. Includes OS, anti-virus, and programs.

3. If you no longer need a program, remove it.

The Internet is expanding. When it was first invented, Not by Al Gore, but by the engineers a ARPA (Advanced Research projects Agency) in about August of 1962, much of it was experimental. And In 1981 the TCP/IPv4 was standardized. That was the year my youngest daughter was born. Anyway it was still experimental and very limited in the total number of hosts (computers, etc) there can be. The IPv4 address space allows for just 4294967296 (4 billion 294 million 967 thousand 296) addressable devices. Seems like a lot doesn't it? But it is almost gone. And if it wasn't for some real cute math tricks, it would be.

So the engineers went back to work and designed IP Version 6 (No, I don't know what happened to version 5. ) Anyway, Version 6 can address 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,456 (340 undecillion 282 decillion 366 nonillion 920 octillion 938 septillion 463 sextillion 463 quintillion 374 quadrillion 607 trillion 431 billion 768 million 211 thousand 456) devices. Try saying that quickly.

But, you know what, I bet there is going to be a Version 8 one day.

There is a new network security issue. If you use WIFI to connect to your network and the Internet, you are most likely affected. This would include phones, both Android and iphones,windows, Linux, Mac computers. It is a flaw in the encryption standard WPA2 all devices use to encrypt traffic over WIFI.
