Sometimes AI gets it wrong. Or…is this so, so right?

Favorite slide from our Lunch and Learn this week where folks from Clockwork and our in-house studio, Tempo, gathered to chat about AI for content, design, and code. We heard how teams are incorporating AI into their workflow (and it’s limitations) to create efficient solutions for clients.

Have you tried honey roasting your coworkers?

We like our teams honey roasted (not ham!). Honey roasts are the kinder version of a regular roast. They build stronger, happier teams and promote empathy within company culture.

We lost a dear friend, colleague, and leader yesterday. Matt Gray was a brilliant software architect and engineer. Matt had many roles in his time at Clockwork: engineer, Director, VP, Chief Innovation Officer, scientist. Matt was a born leader and an actual genius. He was a photographer. A pizza maker. An outdoorsman. A tinkerer. A fixer. A scholar. An inventor. A teacher. A father. A husband. Matt was our friend.

Matt worked at Clockwork for 13 or so years. In that time he built product for clients, contributed significantly to our SaaS business, architected visionary solutions for clients in healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, agriculture, the arts, and non-profits, to name a few. He pitched business, mentored engineers and project managers and designers, keynoted conferences, coached his coworkers, embraced and encouraged interns, pulled all-nighters, fixed massive network failures, put out fires, and calmed nerves. He traveled all over the country and even the globe for work - leading and building solutions in New Zealand, Germany, Shanghai, and the UK.

In collaboration with the late Rebecca Schatz he founded Coder Dojo in Minnesota. He spent countless hours - 1000's really - collecting laptops, coordinating space, wrangling volunteers, and, most importantly, teaching young people how to code. He found and shared tremendous joy in opening up whole worlds of possibility for children who might never have seen themselves with a future in technology. The joy and excitement in their eyes when they actually made lines of code come together to do something was only matched by the joy and excitement Matt expressed for those achievements. Hundreds of young people, all over the state and region, have new and different destinies because they met this man.

There is so much more to write. And the memories will continue to be shared in the days and months ahead. If you knew Matt, if you worked with him or were a friend to him - please share your stories on social media or in an email. At the request of his wife, Carrie, we are collecting memories to assemble into a book for his sweet daughter, Mabel. Send your stories to [email protected] or post them with the hashtag .

Matt was and will always be a bright shining soul. It's somehow appropriate that he left us so close to the solstice and the shortest day. He needs that night sky to find his place among the stars. The word 'solstice' means - the sun stands still. Certainly, the sun is standing still for Matt. Certainly, so many of us are. Standing still and looking up into the enormous sky and remembering our friend, our teacher, our colleague, Matt. Wherever he is - it's absolutely a more beautiful, more interesting, and much smarter place now.

Please stay tuned for information about where to donate to a memorial scholarship for coding students. When the details are available we will share them here.

Hug your people.

-Nancy
