For most of your favorite PC apps you can find the list of keyboard shortcuts in the Settings menu.

Keyboard shortcuts are often the quickest way to increase your speed and productivity in apps you use often.

You don't have to remember or learn all of them - focus on 3-5 at a time that you think will have the most bang for their buck.

Examples:
ctrl + c = copy (copies to clipboard and leaves original)

ctrl + x = cut (copies to clipboard and deletes original *after* it is moved)

ctrl + v = paste

ctrl + z = undo

ctrl + shift + z = redo

There are a few that I use all the time to get you started :)

For the last entry in this week's Todoist introduction, we'll look at Filters.

Filters help you sort through the tasks you have so you can find the tasks you're looking for when you need them - the right tasks at the right time.

Some are already built-in. For example, you have a "Today" view that will show any task from any project that is due Today (or Overdue).

Some filters I've created in the past are:

-show me only the tasks due or overdue from a specific project
(today | overdue) & #[Project Name]

and

-show me only Priority 1 or Priority 2 tasks due or overdue today (today | overdue) & (p1 | p2)

I think you get the idea 💡

What do I do with my Todoist tasks that don't have a project?

I put them in the Inbox

From here, you can either do them on their own OR create a project for them later - but at least they can get out of your head and into your task manager for now!

It's all about getting your head clear of what you need to do so you can focus on how you need to do it.

I dump practically everything into my Inbox and then process my Inbox regularly (in batches, not sporadically, to save time).

Find all of your random task lists, to-dos, and post-its and get that stuff all collected into one place.

Now that you have a Todoist project created, you can populate it with tasks.

According to Todoist, tasks are best when they are:
- Super specific and clear
- Actionable
- Less than an hour long

Protip (this is one of my favorite features): when adding a task, you can type things like "at 5 pm", "in two hours", or "on Saturday" and Todoist will track the due date for you - you can see what tasks are due today in the "Today" view at the top-left of your menu. For a full list of these contexts, look here: https://todoist.com/help/articles/due-dates-and-times

There are a lot of other things you can do with tasks, like assign them to others, add tags (which we'll cover later), or add sub-tasks - remember to check out our guide ( https://todoist.com/getting-started ) for more details :)

Usually, the first thing to do in Todoist is to try creating a "Project"

A "Project" can, once you get more advanced, be a lot of things. But, for now, think of it as a collection of tasks related to a specific goal, outcome, or product.

For me, every new repair I do is a new "Project". So are any new on-site visits.

So are things like potty training my kids.

If you look on the Todoist menu, you should see the word "Projects" with a plus sign nearby (like the screenshot below). Click or tap the "+" to create your first project.

This week, I'm going to be introducing Todoist

Todoist is a task and project management program.

In other words, it helps you keep track of the things you need to do, when you need to do them, and other relevant information.

If you want to download the app, you can use this link: www.todoist.com

(I just found out they've altered their referral program, so I might have a link later that can get us both some good rewards - stay tuned 👂)

If you want to get started right away, check out their "Getting Started" guide here: https://todoist.com/getting-started

Otherwise, I'll walk you through this guide as we go through the week.

Let me know what you think - do you like this sort of content from me? I'm trying something a little different this time.

Trusted by 30 million people and teams. Todoist is the world's favorite task manager and to-do list app. Finally become focused, organized and calm.

Do any of you use a note app?

Which one(s)?

I use Evernote a lot.

I'm experimenting with Notion.

I use RemNote for notes I want to memorize (i.e. formal studies, lectures, book notes, etc).

I use the Samsung Notes app on my phone once in a while, but Evernote's Android widgets are pretty good so this is rare (and, when I do, they usually get saved to Evernote).

If you're not familiar with any of this type of software, maybe it can help you stay a bit more organized, reduce your paper clutter, and help keep the information you need the most at your fingertips.

iPad or iPhone stuck or frozen?

On older models, hold Power + Home for 15-20 seconds to soft reset.

On newer models, it's typically Power + Volume Up or Volume Down (try both).

This will "soft reset" your phone - just like a normal restart, and your data won't be erased or anything crazy :).
