Happy New Years, Modesto Makers!

2017 was quite the year for us Tinkertank-ers! We’ve restructured our business model, started designing and installing our own furniture, assisted on our first wedding (with another one already scheduled -- we can make the Pintrest things!), put on an entire summer school program (we made electric guitars!), coached a robotics team, completed multiple 3d-printed prototypes, created advertising props, etched glass, printed stickers, and lasered just about everything we could!

So far for our 2018, we’re currently constructing laser-etched acrylic cabinetry, building a crazy floating white-laquered library (complete with sliding library ladder, of course), designing and manufacturing more tables, are assisting in Science Olympiad, and even have a few toy-design consultations coming up.
We makers thrive in a creative community like Modesto, and are appreciative of the support we have received. Here’s to another year of making!

Is anyone out there excited about the TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE on Monday? We are! We're quickly laser cutting these pinhole projectors for a local school. We found both maps on the NASA website, but we put the pinhole projector point (on the CA map) right over Modesto. Make sure to observe this amazing event safely!

UPDATE: We are going to begin running extra files of both designs today; they will be ready by opening time tomorrow (11 a.m.). We're selling each for $5, and ALL PROCEEDS will go towards the Modesto High Science Olympiad Team.

If you're cruising by the Tinkertank today and hear some crazy loud noises, that would be our giant CNC cutting out 3/8" aluminum for an amazing custom table. This process seems slow, but the end result is going to be worth it (i.e. AWESOME).

Our newest 3d printer is built and running! Our first three prints came out super glossy & adorable. We're also picking up another brand-spanking-new printer as I type -- admittedly, we may have a printer addiction. Happy Thursday, Modesto!

We are SO EXCITED to be hosting three members of the lovely Knoll family for our last Art Walk tomorrow! Linda and daughter Lizzie will be showcasing their fantastic work inside, and Bernie will be showcasing his teardrop trailer (constructed here at the Tinkertank!) outside. Art Walk begins at 5:00 and ends at 9:00 -- we hope to see you there!

Hi, Modesto Makers -- We have some updates for you about what’s going on at the Downtown Tinkertank:
Starting in May 1, 2017, we will no longer be offering classes or memberships. We also will not be renewing any membership subscriptions and will operate further as a private business.
What does this mean? This means we will be operating as a private design and fabrication shop. We are more than happy to continue taking custom jobs, hosting corporate events, and providing education consultation. We are not closing, but we are consolidating our resources.
It saddens us greatly to take this necessary step; we do, however, hope you understand.
