With inclement weather approaching, it will be good to familiarize yourself with the “SOS” mode on your phone. This allows it to use satellites for emergency communications in situations where no connection is possible.

***If something sounds too good to be true it probably is***
here’s an example of a scam that claims to enter commenters into a drawing to win the cabin, but as soon as you interact with it, by typing the “” or other tag *designed to draw more of your friends to your comment* (like how I discovered this one)
— multiple fake pages will respond to your comment, and also likely send you a message to try and get you to follow a link or some sort of instructions, THIS *will lead to loss of personal information, money, or even your account being compromised* and used to spread the scam further!
— Report and Block these scams to stay safe, never continue interacting with them if you at first did, and delete your comment before blocking if possible.
— NEVER give out personal information, emails, addreses, answers to unusal questions, or passwords, these can also lead to accounts being compromised or aid in identity theft.

If you live in the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) / Green Bank Observatory quiet zone, you may be in luck, some Wi-Fi is now permitted.

ICYMI: WiFi – at 2.4 GHz only – is now permitted in the 10-mile radius surrounding Green Bank Observatory.

Please note that turning off the 5GHz capabilities on your WiFi router is necessary to help us continue observing the universe!
