**UPDATE 8:04 From Windstream
Current Status: Crews are continuing excavation, but progress is slower than normal due to extremely hard, rocky ground and uneven terrain. The existing plant on both sides of the cut has been prepped to expedite restoration once trenching is complete. There is currently no estimated time of restoration.
Next Steps: Teams will continue digging through the rocky section using methods suited for the terrain. Once the trenching is complete, they will place the required infrastructure, backfill, and proceed to splicing and testing to restore service.
3:55 pm UPDATE
Current Status: The onsite field technician completed OTDR testing and confirmed a fiber cut. The damage has been located at coordinates 34.9868611, -92.4167222. The cut impacted a 96-count fiber and was caused by third-party construction activity installing new fiber in the area. An SSP splicing crew has been engaged to perform repairs and is en route with an estimated arrival time of 3 hours.
Next Steps: Continue coordination between the NOC/WSA team, the onsite technician, and the SSP splicing crew to confirm fiber specifics and prepare for restoration work upon crew arrival. Once on site, the SSP will validate the exact damage point, perform necessary splicing on the affected 96-count cable, and conduct post-repair testing to restore services and confirm stability before closure. If any additional construction support is required at the dig site, that will be arranged in parallel to avoid delays and minimize mean time to repair in accordance with the established OSP/SSP engagement process.
Cowboy Internet Services is experiencing an outage. This is on the Windstream side of things again. This is something that is out of our control. There has been a lot of fiber work going on along the interstate. We do not know the full details yet, but we are led to believe that another fiber has been hit or cut. I will continue to make updates here as Windstream gives them to us.
