Service Provider with over 5,000 broadband customers across Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington, ranging from basic residential service to enterprise-grade internet and data transport services. Our available services now span internet access over dial up, DSL, cable, fixed terrestrial wireless, multi-tenant Ethernet, Frame Relay, and fiber, as well as layer 2 private-line data transport and voice communications. We are very proud to have been chosen as a vendor by local institutions such as the University of Idaho, the Moscow School District, Gritman Hospital, Pullman Memorial Hospital, and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, among many, many others. First Step continues to expand its coverage areas throughout Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. For many of the communities that we have extended our network to, our entrance into their market was their first exposure to broadband connectivity. We also recently received the confidence of the NTIA under their Broadband Stimulus program with an award of $2.4 million. The scope of this grant is to construct an FCC licensed, redundant microwave backbone throughout the 5 counties of Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce, Clearwater and Idaho. Also under the umbrella of the grant, we are providing connectivity to anchor institutions within the 5 county area such as schools, libraries, hospitals and government facilities. In addition to Internet connectivity, First Step Internet has a commitment to product development targeted at Internet and related technologies. With a special focus on infrastructure technologies, enterprise management and electronic commerce, First Step Internet has evolved into an expert website design, hosting, and Internet services organization. First Step is committed to providing electronic commerce solutions and web presence for small and large businesses and organizations located throughout the neighboring geographical regions and beyond.

Greetings! We are experiencing widespread outages across the network that we are working to resolve as quickly as we can. What began as a planned no-impact upgrade became an unplanned high-impact outage. This has affected our email and phone systems as well. We apologize for the loss in connectivity and hope to have all systems restored soon.

We are experiencing wide-spread outages today after last night's windstorm. A large portion of our customer base is currently affected. Our engineers are actively working on a resolution now, and we expect to have all services in working condition soon. Network Outage, Moscow Mountain.

First Step is currently working a power outage/equipment failure that has occurred on Moscow Mountain. This is also effecting, Rosalia, parts of Uniontown and Viola. We are working as quickly and safely to restore services as soon as possible. We apologize for the disruption in service. Kevin

Our network has been under attack since about 5:30PM tonight. Our network administrators noticed the attack and have been working to mitigate it since.

Storm Outage-

Good afternoon. We have spent the day working hard with additional crews to recover from the outages caused by the storm. In most cases, the outages were caused by the underlying utility power being down at many sites causing larger outages. Our crews have been working throughout the day to bring all of the sites up. As of this writing, nearly everything is backup and online. Technical support staff is also working hard to contact those people who have called and written throughout the day to let us know of the problems. First Step Paradise Ridge LTE Outage: Good evening, I hope everyone is staying safe. We have been working overtime trying to get all the new and upgraded services requests taken care of. We are also working actively on several network upgrades to make everyone's experience more enjoyable. Unfortunately, tonight we just suffered a set back. We just had a radio on Paradise Ridge that is pointing North towards Moscow fail. We have dispatched a crew to the tower to see if they can fix it this evening. If not, we will be geared up and prepared to climb in the morning to replace the failed radio. We understand how important the Internet is to everyone, more now than ever. To our valued First Step customers:

As we all try to work through this difficult time, I wanted to share with you the plans and changes First Step Internet is making to help keep the communities that we serve, our customers and our staff safe and healthy. As this is a rapidly fluid and changing situation, there may be other necessary steps we take and we will do our best to keep you informed. Here is what we do know at this time:

First Step Internet's business office will be closed starting Tuesday 3/17/2020. We are doing so out of an abundance of caution and in an effort to maintain a healthy working environment. We recognize the importance of Internet access and keeping people connected during times such as this and will continue staffing all essential positions.

Payments can be made online, through postal mail or dropped off in our drop box located just outside our office. If you have billing questions, please email [email protected] or call 208-882-8869 and leave us a voicemail.

Our technical support department will remain staffed with some employees working remotely and others working in the office (although the physical office will be closed). If you have technical support issues or questions, they can be reached via email at [email protected], through our online chat found at www.fsr.com or by phone, 208-882-8869. You will need to leave a message for technical support and they will return your call.

This entire situation is very new and challenging for everyone. I am confident by implementing some of these changes and with everyone's understanding and patience we will all make it through this together.
