Last night’s severe storms and lightning appear to have damaged internet equipment in a number of homes throughout our service area. Our technicians are working through these calls as quickly as possible, but with many customers affected, response times may be longer than usual today.

We understand that storm damage is frustrating. Unfortunately, lightning and electrical surges are outside of Peachtree Broadband Fiber’s control, and modems are costly equipment.

Our equipment replacement policy:
• We provide one modem replacement within a four-year period at no additional deposit.
• If another replacement is needed during that period, a new equipment deposit is required.
• We charge only our cost for the equipment — we do not profit from replacement equipment.

Please protect your equipment during thunderstorms. The best protection against lightning and power surges is to unplug your modem and other electronic equipment from power during severe storms. We know being without the internet is inconvenient, but a short interruption can prevent a much longer one if equipment is damaged.

We appreciate your patience with our technicians and office staff as we work through the storm-related service calls. Our team is working to get everyone restored as quickly as possible.

Peachtree fiber offers symmetrical speeds, which means your upload speed can be just as fast as your download speed.

With our Gig Fiber plan, that's up to 1 Gig download AND up to 1 Gig upload.

Why does upload speed matter? Every time you send a large file, back up to the cloud, use a security camera, participate in a video call, work from home, or upload photos and videos, you're using your upload connection.

Satellite internet can provide impressive download speeds, but residential satellite service typically does not provide the same symmetrical upload and download speeds available with fiber.

When comparing internet service, don't look at download speed alone. Ask about upload speed, too.

We want to provide an update for customers in the Healey Fields area who continue to experience an outage following the severe storms earlier this week.

The storm caused extensive damage to our network, requiring a major rebuild of our system in the Healey Fields area. Before our crews could begin repairs, we had to wait for the electric utility to complete restoration work so it was safe for us to access and rebuild the damaged infrastructure.

Our aerial construction crew was deployed this morning and is actively working on the rebuild. Unfortunately, the extent of the damage to recently installed coaxial cable, combined with the challenging terrain, means this is a complex and time-consuming repair.

Please know that our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore service. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this major repair.

We have located the source of the majority of today's outages. A tree fell near the hospital, damaging one of our backbone fiber lines. This backbone serves a large portion of our network, which is why so many customers have been affected.

Our technicians are on-site and actively making repairs. Because this is a major backbone fiber, the repair requires extensive fiber splicing, and restoration may take several hours to complete.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work safely and as quickly as possible to restore service. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

We are aware of outages across our customer service area due to storm damage which has affected both our infrastructure and the power utilities. Our technicians will be on site as soon as it is safe to perform repairs. Please know that even if you have power some of our equipment may be affected by loss of power. Stay safe.
