Last week, we welcomed our newest team members to the SLM family. Their orientation covered our mission, hands-on training, and a firsthand look at the technology and white-glove service that are reshaping temporary staffing for companies everywhere.

Please join us in welcoming Giandre, Jody, Heather, Joey, and Jalyn to the SLM Team!

Great people. Bigger mission. Let's go.

Proud to support George Wayne Mechanical as they take on a large-scale HVAC installation at Maudrie Elementary, part of the school's expansion project! GWM is installing all new ductwork, lines, and mechanical equipment to support 3-4 new buildings being added to the existing campus.

Since kicking off, progress has been moving fast with a strong team of sheet metal mechanics on-site; the transformation is already impressive. GWM is committed to delivering quality work that will serve this school community for years to come, and we're proud to help keep the project staffed with qualified hands from our skilled temp labor program, from start to finish.

You don’t have to replace your staffing agencies to gain control of temporary labor.

If you're weighing SLM against your current staffing setup, you're probably asking some version of these questions. This carousel covers the ones that come up most:

➡️ Do I have to drop my agencies to use SLM?
➡️ How many agencies before a platform like this actually makes sense?
➡️ Does it affect the rates I've already negotiated?
➡️ Who handles it when there's an invoice dispute?

Swipe through for the answers 👉

Having multiple staffing agencies was never the problem.

Managing them without a system is.

One agency is easy, until you hit its limits.
Only their worker pool.
No rate to benchmark against.
Their bad week becomes your bad week.
So you add more agencies. Coverage improves.

But now you're juggling five invoice formats, five points of contact, and five compliance checklists. More options quietly turn into more ways for things to slip through the cracks.

You don't need to fire your agencies. You need a better way to manage and scale them.

We break down what a better system actually looks like →

A missing OSHA card can pull a worker off the job and disrupt a crew.

A schedule delay caused by insufficient labor can trigger liquidated damages on an SLA-bound schedule.

Inconsistent supplier rates and limited visibility across invoices are eating your margin.

None of this is hypothetical. Right now, for data center GCs and subs across Texas, Georgia, and Virginia, this is the labor market. It's why an MSP (managed service provider) backed by a VMS (vendor management system) is becoming an operational requirement for contractors managing multiple suppliers and jobsites.

Why this labor squeeze is different, and how to evaluate a partner: https://www.smarterlabor.com/blog/why-do-data-center-contractors-in-texas-georgia-and-virginia-need-an-msp/vms-staffing-solution

A VMS is software. An MSP is a service. They are often confused, but they solve different parts of the same problem.

A VMS gives you a system of record for labor requests, timesheets, compliance documents, and invoices.
An MSP gives you the team responsible for running the program, resolving issues, and holding staffing suppliers accountable.
On their own, both have limits.

Software without active management can become another dashboard showing problems nobody has time to solve. Service without the right technology leaves teams working across spreadsheets, emails, and disconnected supplier systems.
The real value comes when the platform and the people running it operate as one.
That’s what SLM is built to provide: a command center for your entire temporary labor program, backed by a dedicated labor expert who understands your operation.

One place for every request, timesheet, compliance document, and invoice. One team actively using that information to keep the program moving.
Late timesheets are identified before they become payment disputes. Supplier trends become visible before they create larger performance or compliance problems. When an issue requires a human decision, you have someone who already understands the program and can act.

The better question isn’t simply, “Do you have a VMS?” or “Do you have an MSP?”
It’s whether your technology and your program management actually work together.

With SLM, they’re built as one.

The problem was never having multiple agencies. It's managing multiple agencies with no system built for it.

You don't need to fire your staffing agency. You need a better way to manage them.

One agency relationship is simple, until you hit its ceiling. They can only offer workers from their own pool. No competing rate to benchmark against. Their bad week becomes your bad week.

So you add more agencies. Coverage improves. But now you've got five invoice formats, five points of contact, and five sets of compliance paperwork to chase, and "more options" quietly becomes "more places for something to fall through the cracks."

Keep the agencies you trust. Just stop managing them one spreadsheet at a time.

Built by contractors, for contractors.

That's what one Superintendent at a national electrical contractor told us — and feedback like this is why we do what we do.

Since 2018, we've stood shoulder-to-shoulder with MEP+ contractors across the US, providing reliable, qualified labor and real responsiveness when it counts.
