Here is another homeowner tip for your generator. Please allow room around the generator for proper service and air flow. Air cooled units require minimum of 3’ safe clearance on intake, and front panel area and 5’ clearance on exhaust end. We have had to relocate a couple generators this month due to poor air circulation causing premature failures.

Here is a very neglected Briggs & Stratton 60kw we brought back to life last week. Backup generators are the number one most neglected mechanical piece of equipment. People have them installed and within weeks they forget about it and just expect it to come on when the power goes out. They never look at the indicator lights to make sure it’s ready or open the lid and take a look at the controller.

Couple before and after pics of a generator that was not on a proper foundation. Bill disconnected the unit and set a solid foundation under it and performed a much needed annual maintenance.
