Today, we join millions around the world in remembering Dolly Parton, not only for the music and joy she shared, but for the incredible legacy of kindness, generosity and opportunity she leaves behind. Dolly passed away Tuesday at the age of 80.

One piece of that legacy is especially close to our hearts at CBEC: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. What began in her home county in Tennessee grew into a worldwide effort to put books into the hands of children and inspire a lifelong love of reading.

CBEC is proud to support two local Imagination Library chapters serving children in our communities, and today we encourage our members to honor Dolly in a way that will keep her legacy turning pages for generations to come.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26th, the Craig County Public Library invites you to honor Dolly Parton by continuing to spread her love of literacy and education.

The Craig County Public Library is honored to offer Dolly's Imagination Library to the children in our community. Because we believe everyone should have access to books and reading, just as Dolly believed, we invite you to shop our Book Barns tomorrow from 10am to 7pm for free books.

Dolly's family has asked that in lieu of flowers, people make memorial contributions to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to support her lifelong literacy mission. Your donation may be made to a specific location to help children have access to books in your own community.

Bee Online Advantage will perform scheduled maintenance on fiber internet equipment on 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎, 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝟏𝟐:𝟎𝟎 𝐩.𝐦. 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟏:𝟎𝟎 𝐩.𝐦.

This planned outage will affect approximately 240 BOA customers in Botetourt County, primarily in the Troutville and Fincastle areas, as well as a small number of customers in Roanoke County along Catawba Creek Road.

Affected customers should expect a brief internet outage of approximately 10–20 minutes during this window. BOA phone service, including access to 911, will also be unavailable during the outage. Please use a cell phone for emergencies.

All affected customers have been contacted using the phone number associated with their account. If you are in the affected area and did not receive a call, please ensure your contact information on your BOA account is current and up to date.

Service will restore automatically once maintenance is complete, and no action is needed on your part.

This maintenance will correct a fault that has been causing service interruptions during the early morning hours.

We appreciate your patience as we work to improve service reliability.

From our roots in Alleghany County, Virginia dating back to 1939 to the connections we’re building today, CBEC has always been committed to serving our members and strengthening the communities we call home.

One of the latest chapters in that story is bringing broadband to roughly 400 members in the Crows/Hematite area of Alleghany County. This 42-mile project was a major undertaking, and it would not have been possible without a $2.3 million Virginia Telecommunication Initiative (VATI) grant.

Projects like this are about more than miles of fiber. They’re about connecting homes, families, and communities to new opportunities while continuing the cooperative tradition that has guided us for generations.
