A single avoided claim can pay for a vehicle’s dash cam for ten years. Bigger claims can save contractors millions.

Tenna customers running dash cam-supported safety programs are seeing fewer collisions, faster claims resolution, and safer crews on the road.

That’s real money back in the budget, and drivers that make it home safe every night.

Heavy trucks and commercial fleet vehicles are the backbone of every construction project: hauling materials, moving equipment, transporting people, and keeping jobs running on schedule.

Without them, nothing gets where it needs to be.

That's exactly why ELD compliance matters so much. These aren't just vehicles on the road, they're the lifeline of your operations. When a truck gets pulled over and their logs are incomplete, it's not just a fine on the line. It's a delayed project, a grounded asset, and a dent in your safety record.

This blog outlines construction businesses need to know to keep their fleet trucks compliant and moving:
✔️ What ELD compliance actually requires
⚠️ The real risks of non-compliance
👍 How to choose the right ELD solution for a mixed fleet
🛣️ Best practices for keeping your fleet road-ready

There's a difference between 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 an event and 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 one.

Most safety technology in construction has historically done the former: a camera captures what happened, a report documents it, and a manager reviews it weeks later. Useful, but too late to change the outcome.

One (of many) ways AI is closing that gap is by warning operators about incidents in real-time to avoid them before they happen, as shown in this TennaCAM 2.0 HE 360 AI camera footage.

Tenna's Russ Young and Elizabeth Torrez sat down with Peter Tateishi, CEO of Associated General Contractors of California, to unpack that exact problem, and what it really takes to:

👍 Drive tech adoption in construction
⚠️ Strengthen safety culture on and off the jobsite
👷 And get the next generation excited about a career in construction, at a time when Gen Z and Gen Alpha are more willing than ever to find jobs with better tools and technology

Most TCO models get built once, filed away, and are never touched again. By year two or three, they're outdated.

That's because many contractors build their TCO models without incorporating real data on utilization, engine hours, fuel, and maintenance. They rely on assumed numbers.

Regardless of whether it's a new equipment type, new market, or the first year owning the asset, it doesn't matter: the rate still needs to get built.

In this blog from Will Hipp, CPA, he lays out a three-pillar approach for building a defensible TCO rate, even if you don't have any data captured and analyzed yet.

Here's a quick look:
1️⃣ Start with the external rental rate, discounted roughly 40%, as your benchmark ceiling
2️⃣ Sit down with your OEM dealer to get real component replacement timelines and costs
3️⃣ Use auction and resale comps to build an actual depreciation curve instead of guessing based on book value

These pillars are grounded in Mike Vorster's work on treating your fleet like a financial portfolio.

Learn how to keep TCO models up-to-date by automatically pulling in live data on utilization and maintenance from platforms like Tenna.

Most dispatch software on the market wasn't built with construction fleets in mind.

It was built for technicians driving service vans between customer addresses, not a mixed fleet of excavators, loaders, and compactors moving between job sites. The gap between those use cases is massive.

In this blog, Jason Mercury gets into what contractors need to know when searching for dispatch and scheduling software for heavy equipment fleets: who needs it, what features actually matter, and why generic tools fall short.

How do you simplify a 150+ technology tool stack without missing out on the next wave of innovation?

Jack Lawrence, a construction VP of Information Services, has been doing just that as he works to bring disconnected systems into one central source of truth, even as new technology keeps entering the picture.

He sat down with Tenna’s Russ Young and shared hard-won advice on construction IT and field relationships, vendor partnerships, and getting teams to actually adopt new tech.

Teams are losing hours and hours every week to something totally avoidable: manually re-typing the same data into multiple systems.

Why? Most construction firms are fighting a disconnected tech stack, and it's costing more than they realize, not just time. Connecting your equipment platform to the rest of your tech stack solves that.

In this blog, Russ Young breaks down:
💸 What disconnected systems actually cost you in time, accuracy, and dollars
🔗 How integrating equipment management with ERP, project operations, and OEM telematics closes the gap
4️⃣ The four levels of equipment management maturity, and where most contractors actually land
