This summer, Loyola design senior, Nastasia Turnbough, had the opportunity to intern at NASA, where she supported SharePoint administration, governance, and user experience improvements. She evaluated SharePoint sites to identify opportunities to improve organization, usability, and overall functionality, while analyzing storage metrics, document libraries, and site structures to recommend strategies that enhanced content accessibility and made information easier to find.
She also strengthened security and compliance by reviewing SharePoint permissions, validating user access against NAMS roster reports, and removing unnecessary access for inactive users, former employees, and contractors. In addition, she conducted access audits, documented findings and corrective actions, collaborated with site owners to maintain accurate permissions, and updated broken SharePoint links to improve navigation and create a smoother experience for users.
Congratulations, Nastasia, on a successful internship and the meaningful contributions you made this summer. We look forward to seeing all that you accomplish next!

The Loyola University New Orleans Department of Design mourns the unexpected passing of former design student Mitch Paone (04).

Mitch was a valued member of our creative community whose talent, generosity, and innovative approach to design left a lasting impression on all who had the opportunity to learn from and work alongside him. His contributions to the design profession will be remembered with deep respect and admiration.

Over the past year, our department has explored and incorporated Mitch’s diaTOOLS into our courses, celebrating his spirit of experimentation and his commitment to sharing creative resources with the broader design community. This summer, the faculty in Loyola Creative Summer Camp used diaTOOLS to create camp T-shirts and tote bags and introduced the tools to high school students—an enduring reminder of the impact his work continues to have on emerging designers.

We also fondly remember welcoming Mitch back to campus as a speaker for the Loyola Design Forum, where he presented his work on the United Nations’ HeForShe campaign. During his talk, Mitch reflected on how his Jesuit education at Loyola helped prepare him for that opportunity and shaped his approach to design as a vehicle for social impact. His work exemplified the power of thoughtful design to advance meaningful change.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mitch’s family, friends, classmates, colleagues, and all who are mourning this profound loss. May his memory continue to inspire future generations of designers through the work he created, the knowledge he shared, and the lives he touched.
