Did your know? The wreck of the RMS Titanic was discovered on Sept. 1, 1985 about 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland during a joint expedition of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution led by Robert Ballard and the French National Institute of Oceanography led by Jean-Louis Michel. The discovery confirmed that the ship split into two main pieces (the bow and the stern) before sinking to the ocean floor.

Thanks For Being Born: Jack Kirby (Aug. 28, 1917 – Feb. 6, 1994) was one of comic books' most prolific and innovative artists and storytellers who co-created some of the world's most well-know superheroes including Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, The Fantastic Four, Thor, The Hulk and The X-Men. In 2026, the intersection of Delancey and Essex St. on the Lower East Side of NYC was dedicated "Jack Kirby Way" in his honor.

On August 27, 1964, Walt Disney’s classic film Mary Poppins held its world premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre — Disney’s first star-studded premiere since Snow White in 1937. The movie became a massive critical and financial success earning $31 million domestically in its initial run. Disney used much of that profit to purchase 27,000 acres of land in central Florida which would eventually become Walt Disney World.
