Small businesses around the country are facing new challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This week we would like to feature Yolanda Owens, who is the Iwi Fresh owner in Atlanta (opened in 2010), which sells preservative-free skin-care products. Her business was inspired by her grandmother, who made self-made herbal remedies to treat family and friends. Her skin-care products are all-natural and created from her own recipes.
During the lockdown, Yolanda found new ways to communicate with her clients and the community. She started doing Instagram Live videos from her kitchen, where she talks about self-care and promotes her products. She created “Uber Self Care,” which delivers products to customers’ doorsteps and “Quarantine Selfcare Curbside Pickup,” where customers could safely pick up products from outside the store. Yolanda is an example of the business owner, who uses innovative techniques to grow her business even during difficult times.
