DDD delivers digital content, data and research services while creating jobs for low income talented

DDD was founded by current CEO Jeremy Hockenstein, then a business consultant for McKinsey. While traveling in Cambodia he was struck by the mix of poverty and progress he saw in this country still recovering from the devastation of the Khmer Rouge regime. Though there were computer schools offering training to young people, there were no jobs for the students once they graduated. Recognizing the

opportunity to make a difference, Jeremy and a group of friends were motivated to figuring out what they could do. Seeing an opportunity in emulating India's business process outsourcing model in Southeast Asia, DDD began as one small office in Phnom Penh, with a project to digitize Harvard University’s student newspaper, The Crimson. Today, DDD has successfully delivered work to hundreds of international and local clients from three operations centers. From a small data entry operation in Cambodia, the company now offers a wide range of digital content services. DDD is the largest technology-related employer in Cambodia and Laos and recently won Kenya’s Vision 2030 Award for the Best BPO. DDD’s unique Impact Sourcing model has developed a growing network of young professionals and propelled hundreds of families out of poverty.

When Mab Sochan joined DDD’s B.E.S.T. program, she was not expecting to gain friends on top of office and life skills. “I was surprised when I met people from different provinces. Everyone was so friendly, and in our team, we always made sure we helped each other out. I’m grateful I get to work in such a warm environment.”

DDD has a 15-year track record in digitizing historically significant and culturally important collections and archives for national and state libraries, museums and archives, and cultural heritage organizations.

Working with UNESCO and The Brechin Group Inc., DDD has chronicled the events of the Khmer Rouge rule to increase awareness. DDD digitized and indexed over 400,000 documents, including photographs, handwritten “confessions” and other biographical records, which are now compiled in both English and Khmer at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum Archives of Cambodia.
