That "Nearly all retailers (93%) think that they can keep pace with shifts in shopper demands...[while] Only 39% [of consumers] think their favorite brands have the ability to make relevant product suggestions..." is concerning.

That "...more than half [of retailers] (58%) say they are being hamstrung by an overdependency on data to make effective decisions about which products to sell" is even more concerning.

What is the alternative if the majority of retailers feel that is somehow impeding effective product planning decisions? Pushing product to shelf and then marking down - based on what if not data?

Data is the most powerful tool to bridge the gap between what product to put on shelf and what a consumer wants to purchase.

Retailers must embrace data and all of the consumer insights it can provide. We clearly need more of this given this report.
