HGC — Human Generated Content 🤍✍️
Just finished a new portrait for my HGC: Human Generated Content series — a return to the roots of mark-making: pencil / watercolor, hand to paper, eye to surface, time moving in real life.
HGC is my reaction to the speed and sheen of AI images, not against it, just in conversation with it. When everything can be generated instantly, I find myself craving the opposite: the drag of the line, the pressure changes, wet paper absorbing color, smell of the materials, the little accidents, the physical evidence of thinking. The kind of “rendering” that only happens when you’re present. No undo’s, no filters, no command-Z out of a mark, choices matter differently.
This one is a portrait of my friend , truly a great friend and mentor. Byron has that rare mix of clarity and generosity… the kind of person who helps you see what you’re actually trying to say, and then pushes you (gently, relentlessly) to say it better. I wanted this portrait to hold some of that: strength, warmth, and a life fully lived.
More HGC coming.
