BOOM! Tetris for Singapore!
Organized by the fine folks at James Cook University Singapore the CLASSIC WORLD TETRIS CHAMPIONSHIP SINGAPORE is open to all participants from Southeast Asia.
Join us to prove to be the best in the region, and win a trip to the Classic Tetris World Championship in Portland, Oregon to prove you're the best in the world!

Tournament details
Game version: Tetris on NES (8-bit US NTSC version, not Tetris by Tengen)

Date: Saturday, 20th of July, 2019
Schedule: 10am to 4pm (Qualifying Rounds) 4pm to 6pm (Top 8 - Versus)
Region: All participants from Southeast Asia are welcome!
Qualifying Round:
1) The qualifying round will be held on Saturday, 20th of July 2019 at the James Cook University Singapore
at 6 NES stations from 10am to 4pm. (”Last game” will be announced at 4pm, and all games in progress
may be completed).
2)Qualifying attempts will be on Type A Tetris for the highest score, starting on level 9 or higher
3) Once a participants game is over for any reason, they must make sure their score is recorded by a
scorekeeper and then return to the back of the line for another attempt.
4) The qualify round will determine the seeding of a 8-player tournament bracket (Top 8 - Versus)
5) Winning CTWC Singapore does NOT guarantee the winner in the TOP 40/TOP 32 at the CTWC finals in
Portland, unless he/she has qualified the qualifying round with a score of 700,000 or above.
Top 8:
i. The tournament will continue in Top 8 with an 8 player seeded tournament bracket based on the results
of the qualifying round
ii. Each match consists of up to 3 games. First player to win 2 games wins the match and proceeds to the
next round.
iii. Top 8 will be on Type A Tetris for the highest score, starting on level 9 or higher
iv. The players will push start simultaneously at the prompt of the referee.
v. Referees will settle any disputes
vi. The player with the highest score wins. If one player tops-out and the other player already has a higher
score, the game is finished. If one player tops-out and the other player has the lower score, that player
will continue until they either top-out (having lost) or exceed the other player’s score (wins the game).
vii. If a player pauses the game or causes the machine to malfunction (e.g. yanking on controller), they will
lose that game. If the console or display malfunctions on its own and the player is within 300,000 points
of their opponent, the game will be replayed.
viii. The final round will be first to win 3 games (best 3 out of 5).
Prize:
i. The grand prize will be a round trip ticket to the CTWC Finals in Portland, at the Portland Retro Game
Expo, from the 18th to 20th of October, 2019. If the winner cannot or is not willing to attend the CTWC
Finals, the round trip ticket would be given to the 1st runner-up or the 2nd runner-up.
ii. Departure country of this sponsored ticket has to be from Singapore, or from another Southeast Asian city of an equivalent ticket value, to Portland, US. The organiser will try to accommodate the preferred
traveling dates and time, but there is no guarantee.
iii. The winner is responsible for his/her own accommodations, and cannot choose a specific airline
company for the sponsored ticket, or choose connecting stop
iv. The winner is responsible for applying for a US visa and all its fees.
