Every archive is, in part, an act of concealment: recording only what can be verified while leaving the rest outside the frame.

Field notebooks and historical notation systems often reveal a discipline of restraint, where private shorthand and unwritten knowledge survived only by chance. In drawing, ink operates under a similar discipline: not every thought passing through the hand is asked to become legible on paper.
Ogni archivio è, in parte, un atto di reticenza: registra solo ciò che può essere verificato e lascia tutto il resto fuori dalla cornice.

I taccuini di campo e i vecchi sistemi di annotazione mostrano spesso una disciplina della misura, in cui cifre private e conoscenze non scritte sono sopravvissute solo per caso. Nel disegno, l’inchiostro opera con la medesima misura: non a tutto ciò che passa per la mano viene chiesto di diventare esplicitamente leggibile sulla carta.

Centinaia di densi tratti incrociati si accumulano nell’arco di interi giorni: una disciplina in cui la profondità del materiale e l’esattezza prevalgono sulla velocità. Qui, il Minotauro attraversa un labirinto reso in inchiostro e pensiero, eretto a custode dei segreti dimenticati.

Horologium Huygens - Astronomy & Temporality Collection.
An inquiry into Christiaan Huygens’ 1656 pendulum mechanics and the geometry of regulated time. The hand-inked linework traces the brass escapement, cogwheels, and balance weights: an attempt to fix the cold precision of an instrument built to dissect the ephemeral.
Behind the mechanical ballet lies an intimate origin: a plate drafted when time felt less like a measure and more like an adversary. A record of the hours we attempt to command, and the quiet ways they ultimately command us.

Un’indagine sulla meccanica del pendolo di Christiaan Huygens del 1656 e sulla geometria del tempo regolato. Il tratto a china traccia lo scappamento in ottone, le ruote dentate e i pesi di bilanciamento: il tentativo di fissare la fredda precisione di uno strumento nato per sezionare l’effimero.
Dietro la danza meccanica si cela un’origine intima: una tavola tracciata in un momento in cui il tempo sembrava meno una misura e più un avversario. Una testimonianza delle ore che cerchiamo di governare, e dei modi silenziosi in cui esse governano noi.

Before the final ink settles, the architecture of an idea is measured in graphite, marginalia, and time.

Studium Minotauri was drafted on this desk as a map of our internal isolation. The labyrinth is not a cage, but a structure of thoughts and unhealed traumas, coded in ciphers and faced with the slow discipline of observation. Time does not punish the solitary act of creation; it preserves it. I rely on the quiet rigor of a single, resolved study rather than the frantic noise of constant production.
Prima che l’inchiostro definitivo si posi, l’architettura di un’idea viene misurata in grafite, note a margine e tempo.

Studium Minotauri è stato tracciato su questa scrivania come una mappa del nostro isolamento interiore. Il labirinto non è una gabbia, ma una struttura di pensieri e traumi, codificata in cifrari e affrontata con la lenta disciplina dell’osservazione. Il tempo non punisce l’atto solitario della creazione; lo preserva. Mi affido al quieto rigore di un singolo studio risolto, rifiutando il rumore frenetico della produzione costante.

Il tempo è l’unico elemento che non possiamo conservare, scorrendo inesorabile e silenzioso. Nel 1656, Christiaan Huygens applicò gli studi di Galileo a un pendolo, sezionando l’effimero in frazioni misurabili e creando un balletto meccanico contro l’oblio. Tradurre questa precisione in inchiostro funge da silenzioso memento mori: un promemoria visivo per dare peso a ogni ora che passa, piuttosto che rincorrerla.
