🌷 July is

This month, hold a place in your heart for all the children who have died and the parents they leave behind.

The degree of suffering that comes with losing a child is impossible to imagine or metabolize. Bereaved Parents Awareness Month is a time to remember the children who’ve left this world too soon and bring tenderness and generosity to the parents and people who have experienced this unfathomable grief.

If you are grieving someone right now, this is a reminder to go easy on yourself. Grief is a byproduct of love. It’s not a sign that you’re stuck in the past, but rather that your heart remembers — and mourns — the love that shaped you.

☀️Reminder of the day:Grief doesn’t have a ‘look.’ Don’t judge your healing by someone else’s timeline.

Earlier in May, we came across an inspiring conversation between author Isabel Allende and Anna Sale, host of the podcast Death, S*x & MoneyDeath, S*x & Money from Slate Magazine.

In the episode, Isabel reflects on personal relationships and her life journey — what it was like to live through the Chilean coup and move across continents. When she talks about the passing of her daughter, Paola, who suffered from a genetic condition called porphyria, she says that it was her mother’s words that guided her through this period of hardship and ultimately prompted her to start writing.

Isabel’s mother described grief as a tunnel, one you walk through alone, step by step, day by day, tear after tear, but that there’s light at the end.

We'd love to share this beautiful episode with our network:

"Life should not be happy. Life should be interesting."

Have you watched the new season of Black Mirror?

In Episode 5 called "Eulogy," we follow the protagonist Phillip as he embarks on a journey to revisit memories of a former lover who has recently passed away. Phillip was able to reenter (literally) into the moments in the photographs through an immersive technology that reconstructed a flat image into a virtual space.

The episode invites us to reflect on the nature of memory itself. Remembering is not reproductive, it's reconstructive. We rebuild memories each time we recall them, shaped by emotion, context, and time. Remembering is also multi-sensory: it’s not just what we see, but what we hear, smell, and feel. The kit in “Eulogy” expands the “flatness” of photographs into something more embodied—something that helps Phillip remember how it felt to be there. This is precisely what Cumulus aspires to do.
