Around 1984:

Join the Leader in Electronic Picture Processing

In eight cities across America, Via Video is introducing Electronic Picture Processing technology to customers in seven separate industries.

This major undertaking needs your help in demonstrating, training, supporting and producing visual communications with Via Video's family of Picture Processing systems.

If you have a minimum of five years experience as an illustrator, animator, graphic designer, video producer, photographer, art director (or preferably a combination of the above), please call or write the Via Video office nearest you to discuss career opportunities.

What Picture Processing Is:

Picture Processing is an important new technology in visual communications. A Picture Processor is like a word processor for pictures, intended for use in creative environments everywhere. A Picture Processor provides for the easy creation, editing and transfer of still or moving pictures in video, photographic and computer graphic media.

What a Picture Processor Can Do:

A Picture Processor saves time and/or reduces the cost of producing visual communication materials in many industries.

A Picture Processor increases the productivity of the creative process, by allowing existing personnel to produce more ideas for less cost.

A Picture Processor provides better control over the creative process by reducing the number of outside steps involved.

What a Picture Processor Can't Do:

A Picture Processor can't think, talk to clients, create ideas, turn lead into gold, or predict the future.

A Picture Processor does not obsolete jobs, but makes existing personnel more productive.

A Picture Processor cannot do anything without a trained, motivated, creative person to use it.

I remember making this, my first figurative digital painting from life, in the demo room at Via Video's office behind McWhorter's Stationery. Rebecca Newell and Galen Caspers were there. Were you in the picture, Jason Danielson? Looks like the late Larry Puppo on the right. I painted Via Video software engineer Jules Minsky after this.
