These stators allow us to create remarkably thin, durable, compact, light-weight motors without compromising torque. f motion, and better efficiency than today’s conventional motors. Motors that were previously unavailable to new technologies. Our proprietary motor design and optimization software, PrintStator, is a cloud-based CAD/CAM software platform that leverages PCB manufacturing to print stators for coreless axial flux machines. PrintStator’s optimization algorithms quickly transform customer application requirements into an optimized motor design that’s ready for rapid prototyping and commercial production at any of the numerous circuit board houses across the globe. We are focused on direct commercialization opportunities in a number of sectors in the industrial, consumer, automotive and alternative energy markets. We are currently partnering with innovators in the robotics, maritime, autonomous vehicle, e-mobility, and medical industries. Additionally, our technology will contribute to a sustainable future. Over 40% all electric energy used in the United States is consumed by electric motors. We believe our elegant and efficient circuit-board technology can provide up to 8% greater efficiency than today’s most efficient small electric motors, and up to 3% greater efficiency than today’s most efficient high-horsepower electric motors. Additionally, motors designs integrated with ECM’s technology require up to 80% less raw materials. We've recently completed a larger production run of our PCB Stator evaluation motor range, enabling us to reduce pricing and make the technology more accessible to engineering teams.

Available in 0.5 HP, 1 HP, and 5 HP configurations, these platforms provide a practical way to get hands-on with PCB Stator technology and explore the benefits of application-specific motor design.

Whether you're looking to improve system efficiency, simplify variable-speed control, reduce noise, shrink package size, or optimize motor performance around the needs of your application, our evaluation platforms provide a straightforward starting point.

We're also finalizing additional operating profile data that demonstrates how the integrated controller can enable expanded speed and torque operating ranges beyond the nominal specification. We'll be sharing those details shortly.

ECM's R&D team, led by Dr. Steven Shaw, has today released ECM100 - a new technical note exploring the engineering principles and performance advantages of air-core PCB Stator motors for haptic applications.

The paper examines how air-core motor architecture eliminates cogging torque and can deliver lower EMI, reduced noise and vibration, and improved controllability compared to traditional iron-core motor designs.

ECM's R&D team has just published ECM101 — the first in a series of engineering technical notes from CTO Dr. Steven Shaw and the ECM research team.

The subject: using axial flux PCB stator motors for high-performance reaction wheel systems in satellites, robotics, and stabilization platforms.

The key insight? Design the motor rotor as the reaction wheel itself — eliminating separate flywheel components, reducing mass and complexity, and delivering exceptionally smooth, zero-cogging torque control.
