Autism moms. We celebrate milestones a little louder. â¤ď¸
I was at school pickup today for Jamison and another autism mom was waiting for her son. When he came out with his aide, she asked, âAny words today?â and the aide said, âyes, 3!â
Our faces lit up. I gave her a little wink. A couple of words. The little miracles we get to witness every day.
I still remember Jamisonâs first word. I was in the kitchen making lunch, and he was in the living room with his therapist. She was counting, â1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7âŚâ
And out of nowhere I heard his tiny voice for the first time. I had waited almost four years to hear it.
âEight!â
I nearly dropped the pan and ran into the living room. âDid he say 8?!â We all cried. I was so, so grateful.
This journey has changed the way I see everything. Itâs taught me to celebrate the smallest things, because theyâre never actually small. â¤ď¸
