When two music industry vets needed a community-focused logo for a new venture, we found some records, cranked the volume, and let the inspiration come through the speakers. Their business plan to help cut out the bureaucracy musicians and bands typically face to get off the ground, while also providing space and lessons, was seriously exciting. So we took inspiration from the huge legacy of music and the idea of community, combining elements that felt organic and grounded in neighborhood vibes, all with a musical Easter egg hidden in plain sight.

When your local orchestra has a legacy as strong as the Reading Symphony, updating the logo is as big an honor as it is a challenge. You need to preserve the past while ushering in the future, so our approach was an evolution, not a revolution. Pulling the identity away from its original typography and giving it a more modern spin was top of mind. In addition to the new logo, we created new seasonal, magazine-style program guides and street-facing window displays that hung in their corporate offices in downtown Reading.

(The before logo is shown in slide 3 and at the bottom of slide 4.)

Our friends at Securityplus Federal Credit Union recently came to us with a brief to develop a big, splashy campaign for a handful of holiday promotions, and chose a direction that is a polar opposite to what most financial brands put into the world. The work is bold, vibrant, cheeky, colorful, and has a lightness and playfulness you just don’t see every day. Which is kinda the whole point when you want to stand out.

The campaign cast a wide net in the digital space, out of home, in their branches, and a handful of delightfully animated films ran online across markets. All made possible with great clients with great taste and an appetite to stand out, have fun, and do work that works.

Paper Meets Press is a custom letterpress, foil stamping, embossing, and die cutting shop here in suburban Philadelphia. It also happens to be owned and expertly operated by our good buddy Scott McClelland, a master craftsman who came to us looking for an updated logo for his shop. We were inspired by gorgeous old ink cans, went down a slightly vintage track, and landed on a mark that will meet the business end of one of their 2,000-pound Heidelberg Windmill presses very soon.

Fun fact: North Wales, PA was once home to the world’s largest greenhouse that at its peak could grow nearly 100,000 rose bushes. So when Justin Copenhaver, founder of (a fellow North Wales-based company), was looking for a logo for a business alliance he was relaunching, we thought an icon of a rose seemed like a fitting symbol to bridge our town’s history to its growth, vitality, and natural beauty.

Any time you’re asked to combine an amazing client initiative with your local minor league baseball team, you’re having a good day. And that good day came to us when First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union agreed to sponsor an area called the “Picnic Patio” in left field of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs ballpark.

We started by creating a number of design directions, each uniquely suited to attract fans to the area. After a direction was selected, we refined the concept to fit the fabrication budget — the focal point being a faux neon “Picnic Patio” typographic treatment without actual, high dollar neon. In the end, the final sign measured in at 20 feet wide.

From there we created an accompanying logo, also mimicking neon signage, which paired perfectly with the rooftop sign and was utilized on all banners, signs, and wayfinding elements. It was a home run in every way. ⚾️
