STOP. Security Tracking www.stoptheft.com
Secure, Prevent, Track, Recover! Products to protect all your computers, laptops, and mobile devices. The U.S.

Our philosophy is that security does not have to be difficult or expensive and STOP products are designed to provide our clients with the peace of mind that true security brings, for a price that cannot be matched. We understand that because portable electronic devices are specifically designed to travel with us, they are uniquely vulnerable to loss or theft. We also know that beyond the physical

device, the data they hold can be so important that loss or unwanted exposure could be catastrophic. We believe that security should begin with an understanding of how devices are deployed, backed by a strong deterrence, tracking, and finally eletronic protection of data. In combination, from asset management and deterrence, to tracking and data security, STOP Products are the perfect blend of comprehensive protection and cost-effectiveness. headquarters of STOP are located in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Preparedness is not only about storms, outages, or physical emergencies. For many organizations, being prepared also means knowing exactly what to do when a laptop, tablet, or work device goes missing.

A lost device can quickly affect more than the equipment itself. It may involve work accounts, saved passwords, client records, confidential files, cloud access, internal systems, or sensitive data that needs to be secured right away.

This National Preparedness Month, take time to review your device loss response plan. A clear plan helps teams respond faster, reduce confusion, and protect the information behind the device. Preparation works best when it happens before the moment of panic.

When a device goes missing, the first few steps can make a big difference. A lost laptop, tablet, or work device may carry access to email, cloud storage, company systems, client files, saved passwords, and other information that needs to be protected quickly.

Start by thinking through the last known location, then report the loss right away to the appropriate person or team. From there, secure important accounts by changing passwords, signing out remotely when possible, and removing the missing device from trusted devices if that option is available.

Tracking tools, asset records, serial numbers, and STOP ID information can also help create a clearer response path if theft is suspected. The more details you have, the easier it becomes to document the situation and take the right next steps.

Device protection works best before the panic begins. Visible identification, recovery support, tracking, and smart login habits can help protect both the equipment and everything connected to it.

A Good Samaritan in Pennsylvania recently found an Apple iMac near a dumpster with a visible STOP Security Tattoo. The original STOP Security Plate had been removed, but the permanent tattoo remained, making it clear that the device had been protected and traceable through STOP.

After the device was reported, our team was able to confirm its status. The iMac had been properly decommissioned by a school district and was free and clear of ownership, meaning there was no active theft concern.

This story is a strong reminder of the role visible identification can play throughout the full life of a device. Even after a security plate is removed, the STOP Security Tattoo continues to provide a point of reference for verification, accountability, and peace of mind.

Sometimes recovery support means helping return stolen equipment. Other times, it means confirming that a device has reached the end of its official use responsibly and transparently.

A visible security measure can make a meaningful difference.

After repeated laptop thefts from its offices, one organization installed STOP Security Plates across 2,000 devices. Shortly after deployment, the number of reported thefts dropped to zero.

Their experience shows the value of making device protection easy to see. A STOP Security Plate clearly identifies equipment as protected and difficult to resell, helping discourage theft before it happens.

“It really is a visible deterrent.”

When a device goes missing, the hardest part is often knowing where to start. A laptop, tablet, or piece of equipment can move through offices, vehicles, classrooms, job sites, airports, or public spaces before anyone realizes it is gone.

Tracking adds a stronger layer of visibility to the devices your organization relies on every day. It helps teams respond faster, narrow down where a device may be, and reduce the uncertainty that comes with lost or stolen equipment.

For IT departments, schools, healthcare teams, field staff, and businesses with mobile devices, tracking can support better accountability across the full life of each asset. It gives teams more than a record of ownership. It gives them a clearer path to action when something is missing.

With STOP Theft solutions, device protection is built around deterrence, identification, recovery support, and smarter tracking options that help keep valuable equipment from becoming untraceable.

Legal work often moves beyond one desk. Attorneys, paralegals, and support staff may carry laptops and tablets between offices, courtrooms, client meetings, home workspaces, and travel days. With that constant movement comes a greater need to keep every device protected, identified, and accounted for.

A missing device can create more than an equipment issue. It can interrupt deadlines, delay casework, expose confidential materials, and create added stress for teams already managing sensitive information.

STOP Theft helps legal teams add a visible layer of protection to the devices they rely on every day. From laptops used for case preparation to tablets brought into meetings or court, device security helps support the confidentiality, continuity, and professionalism legal work requires.

Devices can easily be misplaced in shared spaces, especially when students and staff are moving through busy routines. A clerk at Saint Vincent’s Behavioral Health in Westport, Connecticut contacted STOP after finding an HP Chromebook at their location. After confirming the device belonged to a student in a local school district, we notified the school administrator, and the district confirmed they are coordinating its return.

For schools, recovering a missing device means more than replacing equipment. It helps a student get back to learning with less disruption and gives staff a clearer path to reunite important tools with the people they belong to.

Back-to-school devices move through a wide range of spaces each day, from classrooms and libraries to hallways, cafeterias, courtyards, athletic fields, and other open areas around campus.

With so much movement, laptops and tablets can be easier to misplace, leave behind, or expose to theft. A device set down on a bench, outdoor table, or shared study space may only be unattended for a moment, but that can be enough.

Start the school year with simple habits that help keep technology protected. Keep devices within reach, avoid leaving them unattended in open or shared areas, label them clearly, and add a visible theft deterrent that stays attached wherever they go.

Managing devices across multiple teams, departments, or locations takes more than a simple inventory list. For organizations with laptops, tablets, and other mobile equipment in constant circulation, it is important to have a system that helps keep devices organized, identifiable, and easier to recover if they go missing.

Across offices, schools, hospitals, and field settings, equipment often moves quickly from one user or location to another. That can make oversight more challenging, especially when teams are balancing day-to-day operations, compliance needs, and data security responsibilities at the same time.

STOP Theft’s corporate plans are designed to support organizations that need a more structured way to manage and protect their devices at scale. With centralized registration, easy device tagging, and nationwide recovery support, teams can improve visibility, strengthen accountability, and reduce the disruption that comes with lost or stolen equipment.

Laptop prices are skyrocketing. One of the biggest reasons is the rising cost of memory. Laptops depend on components such as DRAM for performance and NAND for storage, but the companies producing these parts are increasingly prioritizing specialized memory for AI data centers.

That shift is placing pressure on the supply available for consumer devices. With manufacturers paying more for essential components, those added costs are being passed on to buyers.

Apple is already reflecting this change in its pricing. According to Gizmodo, a 14-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro now starts at $4,100 --- $500 more than before the latest increase. Apple has also acknowledged that memory suppliers are passing along significant price hikes.

Other laptop manufacturers are facing the same challenge, and industry forecasts suggest memory prices may remain elevated for several years. As a result, laptops and MacBooks may continue to cost more than they did before 2025.
