Little GA5 Gibson Skylark. Previously worked on in another city, but not satisfying the owner. I found a mistake in the circuit and it had been recapped…..with a NOS canister capacitor. Uh. Old caps are old caps and it’s even worse if they were never used. At least with electrolytics. Nothing a Wizard can’t handle. New caps. Resolder broken power cord ground. Fix a little rat wire chew or two. Replace incorrect resistor. Stuffed a juicy RCA 12ax7 up her skirt and she moaned that tone we all love to hear.

A speaker swap was recommended to customer as it has a square magnet in it now and it’s making her a little too breaks uppy. She needs a little headroom and brightness an Alnico can provide to be perfect.

*If you ever have the chance to grab one of these amps....do it. They are incredible.

These fenders are incredible after a rebuild. The champ. It’s everything a champ should be. The bassman is full and complete glassy warm round fender that will snarl pretty decent if you crank her up. The are staple amps for any guitar slinger.

Fender goodness. 1961 Champ. She’s was a total virgin. She sounds sooooo good now. New cord. Caps. Nice black plate Slyvania long plate 6v6. Cleanup. New fuse holder. An easy mode treat compared to the nightmares amps the last few days.

Hey guys, keep getting amps in that are being repaired locally...but being hacked up instead. I'm slow and an as***le at times. You dont have to like me. But I am seeing some ridiculous work...at sky high prices. Beware. For your amps sake...you better learn how to deal with me.

Look at his one from a little while ago...they glued the speaker....collected the money...and sent the amp home like this. Beware.

Lets just slather this destroyed speaker with yellow carpenters glue and see if that will do....lol.

You can’t trust the bias control lights on these newer ampegs. Biased perfectly. Perfectly balanced. These are incredibly sensative controls. Turn one a mm. It throws the other side off 15ma. You adjust them to balance close as possible and with the least amount of noise. Ampeg has them a little cold. But it is a bass rig. I don’t suggest leaving them on for long periods unplayed.

These svt’s and many older ampegs are hot tamales. I got hit by a VT40 once at these voltages. Rattled my bones.
