Most internal marketing teams are asked to wear every hat—from strategy and copy to design and ex*****on. But there is a massive gap between a marketer who knows how to use design tools and a professional Creative Director who understands how to remove the friction that stands between your audience and your message.
We wanted to run a hypothetical experiment to show exactly what we mean. Let’s look at how three different "marketers" might approach a simple newsletter graphic for the NIV Bible versus how a professional firm handles it.
❌ Marketer #1: Friction. Placing the title directly over a beautiful but busy leaf background at 100% opacity makes the text difficult to read. The user has to work to understand the message.
⚠️ Marketer #2: The "Compromise" Approach. They realize it's unreadable, so they drop the opacity of the photo. Result: The text is readable, but the photo is now "muddy" and washed out. You’ve lost the beauty and impact of the original visual.
✅ Professional. Refined. When you work with a Creative Director like our own Seth Guge, you don’t go through two "failed" versions. This is what "buttoned up" looks like. The title is crisp and readable, the background image is fully visible and beautiful, and everything looks amazing.
Most internal teams have great marketers, but they rarely have the luxury of a dedicated, high-level design expert in the same room. We pair the two. When deep strategy and great design are integrated from the start, you get the kind of consistency that elevates your entire brand across every single touchpoint.
