Regardless of your industry, we can all learn from Isiah Walters
About 10 years ago, I got a DM from someone asking one simple question: “What do you do?”
After months of persistence, I finally replied:
“Meet me at Starbucks this Saturday.”
He drove 30 minutes, showed up in a suit with a notebook, and took pages of notes.
When I gave him the choice between making more money or building a stronger foundation, he chose the opportunity that at the time only paid him ($45k) instead of the other option which would have paid him ($75k).
Today, Isiah Walters has built an incredible career where he earns well over six figures—and an even more impressive life as a husband, father, and leader.
Three key reminders:
• Preparation creates opportunity. Never assume you will get “another” opportunity.
• Choose learnings over earnings (especially early in your career).
• Persistence pays off. It’s hard to beat a person who doesn’t “quit first”
