The biggest change happening in AI right now is something most of our clients don't have a mental model for yet.
For two years, every AI tool we have used (Copilot, ChatGPT, even Claude when you used the chat box) has been an assistant. You asked a question, it answered. You asked for a draft, it wrote one. You still did the work.
What Microsoft just shipped inside M365 is different. It is an agent. You hand it a task and it actually does the task. Reads the files, edits the documents, runs the analysis, finishes the work, and reports back. You don't sit there prompting it through every step.
In plain English: the AI just stopped being your typing buddy and started being your actual coworker. That is why they called it Cowork.

For three years I've been telling our clients that Microsoft Copilot wasn't worth the $20/user/month. That just changed, and the reason has very little to do with Microsoft.
On March 9, Microsoft shipped Copilot Cowork. Same name as the product Anthropic launched eight weeks earlier. Built in close collaboration with Anthropic, on Anthropic's models. Microsoft did not even rebrand it.
A few weeks after that, Microsoft restructured its OpenAI partnership. The exclusive license became non-exclusive. Satya Nadella told Wall Street on the next earnings call that Microsoft now has "the broadest model selection of any hyperscaler."
In plain English: Microsoft has stopped trying to win the AI model race. They are going to be the platform you run any frontier AI on, including models built by their competitors. The Copilot you have been paying for is finally worth the spend, but the engine inside it is Anthropic's.

And honestly? We can't even argue with it — they literally just sent us a giant box of hazelnuts to prove it.

We've had the privilege of partnering with this incredible client for well over 10 years. And the truth is, the feeling is completely mutual. Their loyalty, their trust, and now apparently their snack game. We're grateful for all of it.

This is what it looks like when partnerships go beyond the contract. It becomes something real.

Unpopular opinion: most businesses don't need more software.

They need to actually use what they have.

Half the AI transformation conversations we have start with a stack of tools that are either underutilized, overlapping, or completely disconnected from each other.

Before you buy the next platform, ask:

→ Are we getting full value from what we already pay for?
→ Do our tools actually talk to each other?
→ Does our team know how to use them effectively?
→ Is there AI built into tools we already own that we've never activated?

Real AI transformation isn't always about new technology. Sometimes it's about unlocking what's already there.

That's a big part of what our AI Readiness Assessments uncover — and it saves our clients money before they spend a dollar on anything new.

A lot happened in March.

We talked to dozens of businesses this month — manufacturers, hospitality operators, contractors, service companies.

And a few themes kept coming up:
