Chris' Custom Computers

Chris' Custom Computers I have been building, rebuilding, and fixing computers for over twenty years now. When it comes to computers, I have the insight to fix yours. He was hooked.

In 1996 Chris Eros purchased his first professionally built PC. It was a top of the line 233Hz Intel processor, with 24 megabytes of RAM, a 4 megabyte video card, six disk CD changer, and a huge 4 gigabyte 5400RPM hard-drive. Next came the upgrades. A new processor, more RAM, new video card, and hard-drive. For the last twenty years, Chris has been building, upgrading, fixing and learning about PC

’s. In 2016, after coming home from work at a job he didn’t love, he did what he always does to relax, he started to tinker with his computers and had a moment of realization, “Hey, I can do this for a living”. With much encouragement from family and friends Chris started Chris’ Custom Computers to bring his talent and love for computers to the public. Located in Ocean Park, WA. Chris services all kinds of PC’s, laptops, and tablets. Mac, Windows, and Linux.

With the development of all the new AI data centers around the world SSD (solid state hard drives) and RAM (random access memory) prices have gone through the roof.

What used to cost $80 retail for a 1TB SSD is now $200 plus and the cost of RAM is worse yet.

What used to cost $200 for 32GBs of RAM is now well over $400.

I am trying my best to buy PC’s that I can retail for a competitive price, but it is becoming harder and I no longer purchase SSD’s or RAM to have on hand, but order as needed as prices are so volatile.

With that being said, I did have the privilege of building a custom PC for a customer the other day.

He wanted a custom built PC with room to upgrade.

As always we started with the motherboard, we used an Asus TUF gaming X870E-Plus and added an AMD 9800x3d CPU with 32GBs of Vengeance Pro Corsair memory.

The motherboard uses one of the latest chipsets with tons of connectivity and the CPU is the best bang for the buck CPU for gaming (I run the same CPU in my personal rig) and 32GBs for RAM is the sweet spot right now for gaming.

For graphics we used an Asus TUF RTX 5080 16GB GPU (again the same GPU I use).
To keep things, cool an Arctic Liquid Freezer II cooler and seven Lian Li RGB case fans.
Powering this beast was an Asus TUF series 1200Watt 80+ Gold PSU.
And finally we put everything into a Lian Li mid-tower case.

I really enjoy when I am able to use all Asus components, and this build was very satisfying.

Here are some pictures of the build.

I hope you enjoy them also.

I just received a new shipment of mini-PC’s just in time for Christmas.

I have been trying to keep PCs in stock but, it has been a little challenging with everything that is going on in the world today.

Solid State Drives and Memory have been going crazy with AI data centers consuming the majority of SSD’s and RAM.

SSD’s that used to cost $80 are now $150 and RAM that was $150 is now up to $350 plus.
I have been trying to get the best deals from my supplier (Neosmay), while avoiding high tariffs and shipping.

With the new shipment I have been able to keep the prices within reason, but I am not sure how the next shipment will cost, so now is the time to buy!

The new PCs start at $325.00 for a quadcore 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD and go up to $625.00 for a sixteen core i5 CPU 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD.

If you are still running Windows 10 the time is now to upgrade and with Christmas just around the corner, wouldn’t it be a great idea to give your loved one a new MINI-PC to replace that aging, large, noisy, slow, outdated PC?.

These PCs are very fast; they all run Win 11 Pro and have a one-year warranty.

I would like to show off another customer build I did the other day.

I had a customer reach out to me from Vancouver; he was looking for someone to troubleshoot his PC that would not boot and while we were in his computer he asked that I move all his components to another computer case.

I go to Vancouver every weekend, so I stopped by on my way home and picked up his PC and brought it back to the shop.

His motherboard had failed and needed it to be replaced.

His old PC was running a 10th generation CPU (a little older, but a nice CPU).

He had nice components already, so we replaced the older Intel motherboard and CPU with an Asus motherboard and an AMD 5900x CPU.

We were kind of on a low budget, and we were able to get the replacement parts for a good price.

After the rebuild was complete the customer came to the beach to pick up his new PC.

Here are a few pictures of the finished PC.
I hope you like it.

If you need help, feel free to get a hold of me.

I would like to share another custom PC build I did the other day.

I had a customer ask me to build his PC for him.

He had already purchased all the components and was intending to build it himself, but his circumstances changed, and he was unable to build it himself.

Of course, I was happy to help as this is my happy place (building PC’s).

The PC he wanted was purely a gaming PC running a Linux operating system call Bazzlite (I love Linux) and this distro is built to run Steam (a gaming platform).

He was also looking a PC without all the whistles a bells, no colored fans (a sleeper).

The PC used these components:

MSI B560 Gaming X AX v2 motherboard.

A Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU.

The GPU was a XFX RX 9060XT.

For storage we used a Western Digital M.2 500GB SSD for the OS and a WD M.2 4TB SSD for games.

Memory was 32 GB’s of T-Crate Expert @ 6000MHz.

To keep things cool he had purchased a Peerless Assassin 120 SE Cooler.

The power supply was a Cooler Master MWE 850 watt Gold.

Lastly, everything was placed into an APNX V1-W Case.

This was a very nice case and fun to use for a PC.

Here are a few pictures of the build.

I hope you like it.

If you need help, feel free to get a hold of me.

Facebook Meme Accounts.

I wanted to pop on and talk about Facebook meme accounts.

In particular, the meme accounts that try to divide us as a country.

The accounts usually post stuff about how stupid the left is, or the right is, how stupid religion is, or non-religious people are, gay, straight, blah, blah, blah.

You know, the memes that make you want to reach through the computer screen and strangle the poster.

Just so everyone knows, this is not a political post, and Chris’ Custom Computers doesn’t care where someone’s politics lie.

For the last several months, I have seen more meme accounts, the ones that only post meme’s and nothing else, that do not align with my personal politics.

I decided to look a little closer at who is behind these meme accounts, and here are a few things I have seen.

When I see these accounts and want to know more, one of the first things I do is look at the profile.

Most will have a web address and when I click the link, the website does not exist.

These accounts will also say things like this account is in the USA, and when I go to the “About” section under “Page Transparency” I will see that the account is managed in a foreign country.

Before you “Like” the page you might want to have a better understanding of why a foreign account is so interested in dividing us.

Clicks and Likes might not be the reason for the account and more likely these are foreign actors trying to divide us.

It is a big world out there and not every country is on our side.

Here are a few examples I found.

If you need help, feel free to get a hold of me.

I had a visitor here in the shop yesterday that I would like to share, Kyle Jewell from K J Tree Service stopped by for some phone help and he brought his baby wiener dog with him, so we thought it would be fun to introduce her to the BIG shop dog.

Logan is always very interested in other dogs and the littler the dog the more he wants to check them out.

We were hoping to allow the puppy to walk around the counter, by she turned into a cat and was not going to have anything to do with him.

If Kyle wasn’t holding her, she would have climbed on top of his head. LOL

She really was okay and really wasn’t that stressed out, but she was not going to let Kyle put her down though.

I wanted to share my latest customer PC build.

We built this PC for the purpose of creating a Large Language Model (AI) program he is going to build and wanted horsepower to run it well.

We went with Intel this time because Intel’s new CPU’s have a neural processing unit (NPU) built into it (AI).

As always, we started with the motherboard an ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z890 HERO designed for AI and mates well with the new Ultra Intel CPU’s.

For a CPU we used an Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 285K. This is a 24 core CPU designed with AI in mind.

For memory we used 128 GB’s of KingBank’s DDR5 6000MHz error correcting (ECC) memory.

For storage we used a 2TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD (OS and Programs) and an 8TB Western Digital SSD (Data).

We wanted to put a RTX 5090 GPU, but they are brand new to the market and they are not available at retail prices right now so we placed a RTX 4070 as a place holder so he can get to work.

Later when the 5090’s come around we will replace the 4070.

To keep things cool we used a NZXT Kraken 360mm AIO liquid CPU cooler.

To power this PC, we used an Asus 1200watt Tuff series PSU.
Windows 11 Pro was a must.

To wrap everything up we placed it into a BeQuite Dark Base Pri 901 case (I have used this case before, and it has tons of room for cooling and is extremely quite).

Here are a few pictures of the build.

I hope you all like it.

If you need help, feel free to get a hold of me.

Spring Cleaning!

After I setup your new laptop or PC and you leave the old device here, I try donating good used laptops to charity, I pull the CPU’s, RAM, hard drives and any usable parts and reuse the parts I can.

With old hard drives and SSD’s, I use a data wipe program that writes over the hard drives three times and then the drive can be reused without any possibility of the data being recovered.

Everything else gets recycled and the other day was recycling day!

I hauled 500lbs of old dead PC’s and laptops to Peninsula Sanitation’s transfer station’s E-Waste.

If you didn’t know, Peninsula Sanitation will accept old PC’s, laptops, TVs, and other electronics free of charge at their transfer station.

If you need help setting up your new device correctly feel free to get a hold of me.

Tis the season for building high end gaming PC’s.

I have had the privilege of being able to build several high-end gaming PCs lately for my customers and I would like to show off the latest one I just finished.

This is of course built for gaming only, so an all-out screamer was in order.

As always, we started with the motherboard, and for this one we used another Asus, this time an Asus TUF Gaming X870-Plus WIFI AMD X870 was in order.

We used another AMD 7950X CPU because the 9800X3D CPUs are not available right now and we could not wait.

This is a sixteen core, sixteen thread (32 core) CPU with tons of horsepower.

For memory we used two 16GB sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 RAM running at 6400 MHz.

For storage we used a 1TB Samsung 990 EVO for the OS and programs and a 2TB Samsung 990 EVO for games.

For a graphics card we used a Gigabyte RTX4090 GPU.

The RTX 4090 GPU market has gone crazy and getting any 4090’s within a reasonable price is difficult, but we snagged it before the prices went up.

The customer is going to use a 4K monitor and this card paired with the 7950X is going to allow them to run pretty much any AAA game at max settings for quite some time.

This card is HUGE!

I am not a big person, but this card is the length of my forearm to almost my fingertips.

To keep things cool we used a Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix XT liquid cooler and an additional seven Corsair LL series 120mm RGB fans.

To power this monster, an Asus TUF series Gaming 1200watt 80+ gold certified fully modular PSU was used.

And to wrap it all together, a Corsair 3500X ARGB mid tower case was used.

This was an extremely powerful PC and was a pleasure to build (LOL, I get to build PCs for a living).

Here are some pictures of the build, I hope you enjoy them.

I would like to share my latest build, (creation).

This computer was built purely as a gamer.

Buying high end computer parts are crazy right now, to build this machine, we had to buy as fast as we could and hope we could get the parts we needed.

Luckily, we were able to get most all the parts we were looking for.

As I mentioned, this was purely a gaming PC, and this is what we built.

As always, we start with the motherboard, an Asus ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI, this is one of the top-of-the-line Asus motherboards.

For the CPU, the newest 98003DX is not available, so we went with a 7950x sixteen core, sixteen thread CPU (32 cores) with the intention of upgrading to the 98003DX when the demand cools down.

For memory we used Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR5 6400 MHz.

For storage we used a 1TB Samsung SSD for the OS and a 2TB Samsung SSD dedicated for games.

For the graphics we used an ASUS TUF RTX 4090 GPU.

This is the top-of-the-line GPU right now.

This will run three 4K monitors in surround.

To keep things cool we used a BeQuite PURE LOOP 2 360mm water cooler.

To power this beast a 1200watt ASUS TUF 80+Gold PUS was used.

Everything was put into a BeQuite Dark Base PRO 901 case.

This case is massive and was a pleasure to work with.

This was a fun build that I am very proud of.

I hope you like it.

I try to look out for scammers via email scams, telephone scams, and social media scams and Facebook has plenty of scammers on it.

So today I noticed that the Facebook group “Long Beach/Seaview/Ilwaco/Swap Shop” that I was a member of changed their name to “Life Hacks Central Ocean Park United States”.

This to me was curious so, I looked into them a little closer because it is a strange name for a “local” buy and sell Facebook group.

The first thing I did was to look up the admins, they are:

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084855335246

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100082304738608

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100082085714286

None of which seem to live in the US.

When I look at the “About” section I see.

“Here, you'll discover a treasure trove of:
🔹 Practical Life Hacks: Unlock the secrets to making everyday tasks easier and more efficient.
🔹 Ingenious DIY Projects: Unleash your creativity with fun and easy-to-follow DIY projects.
🔹 Entertaining Content: Brighten your day with hilarious videos, memes, and stories that guarantee a good laugh.
Whether you're looking to solve everyday problems, explore new hobbies, or simply enjoy some light-hearted fun, our group has something for everyone. Join us to share your own tips, learn from others, and connect with like-minded individuals who love to make life a little easier and a lot more fun.
✨ Let's inspire and entertain each other every day! ✨
Powered by KingQ Media”.

Again, nothing about our community here.

Then I went to look up KingQ Media I see

“KingQ Media - Your Global Hub for Buying and Selling ...
We empower you to take control of your Facebook marketing strategy by offering you the opportunity to own, not just rent, targeted Facebook groups.”

DON’T DO IT! Also when I try to go to their wesite “https://kingqmedia.com/” I get a security warning with EVERY one of my web browsers Edge, Chrome, and FireFox stating “Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to kingqmedia.com. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details.”

It looks like scammers have taken control of this Facebook group and it will turn into a scammer group.

I promptly left the group, and I would recommend others to do the same.

New Test Bench

Some people like to turn wrenches, some like to paint, or ride horses.

I like to work on and build computers.

It has been a hobby of mine since Windows 95.

There were a few reasons I started Chris’ Computers, one was because of my enjoyment of working with the public and along with that is the feeling I get helping those in need to better understand computers, that feeling of relief for the customer after all feels lost after bringing me a crashed computer and I am able to retrieve the files.

Mostly though, the reason I started Chris’ Custom Computers is because I like to build and tinker with computers!

With that being said, I would like to show off my latest Test Bench.

I use it for testing, retrieving files, research, showing customers programs and demonstrating different things.

The parts came from my personal PC before I upgraded to the one I have now, and I recycled them into a new case.

It is built off the X299 platform (8 dimms of memory) with an Aus Strix motherboard, it has 64GB of DDR4 RAM, a 500GB SSD for the OS and programs with a 4TB “Data” drive for storing and transferring files.

To keep things cool I used a 240mm Corsair radiator (water cooled).

I decided to put Corsair lighted fans in it to make it look pretty.

Of course, I could have just built it plain Jane without the whistle and bells, but what’s the fun in that.

I hope you guys like it.
