🔌Big Oklahoma Win: HB 2992 Passes Senate Unanimously – Protecting Your Utility Bills from Big Data Centers.

Good news for Oklahoma families, homeowners, and businesses! House Bill 2992, the Data Center Customer (Ratepayer) Protection Act of 2026, just passed the Oklahoma State Senate unanimously today (April 28, 2026) with amendments.

This bill ensures that massive new data centers, crypto mining operations, and AI facilities (75+ MW loads) cover their own massive infrastructure costs instead of passing them on to everyday ratepayers like you.

🔑Key points:

- Separate tariffs for these huge energy users
- Those who create the demand pay for it — not families and small businesses
- Helps prevent surprise spikes in your electric bills
- Applies to new large facilities (post-July 2026)
- Strong bipartisan support (House originally passed 92-2, Senate unanimous today)

At Cyber Misfits, we support smart policies that promote responsible growth while keeping energy reliable and affordable for all Oklahomans. This helps businesses like yours stay competitive without unnecessary cost increases.

The bill now returns to the Oklahoma House of Representatives for concurrence on amendments before heading to Governor Kevin Stitt. Very close to becoming law!

What’s your take? Will this protect Oklahoma families or slow tech growth? Let us know below 👇

📢 OKC Tech Update from your local Cyber Misfits 🕹️

Big local news just dropped: The City of Oklahoma City - Government unanimously approved a moratorium on new data centers. This temporary pause runs through December 31, 2026 (or earlier if new zoning codes get approved sooner).

With massive hyperscale projects in the works, residents and leaders raised real concerns about strain on our electrical grid, water supplies, and transparency with developers.

At Cyber Misfits, we provide managed IT and cybersecurity services that rely on strong, secure data center infrastructure every single day for Oklahoma businesses. We’re all for innovation — but it has to be smart and sustainable so it doesn’t create digital chaos down the road.

This pause gives the city time to build better foundations.

What’s your take, OKC?

✅ Pause for smarter planning?
or
❌ Slowing down local tech growth too much?

Drop your thoughts below 👇 We read every comment.

Apple Announces Leadership Transition: Tim Cook to Step Down as CEO 🍎.

Apple has officially announced that Tim Cook will step down as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026.

John Ternus, currently Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will take over as the new CEO. Tim Cook will transition to the role of Executive Chairman of the Board.

Ternus, who joined Apple in 2001, has been instrumental in the development of major hardware products, including the iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch. He will also join Apple’s Board of Directors.

This marks the first CEO change at Apple since Tim Cook succeeded Steve Jobs in 2011. Under Cook’s leadership, the company experienced extraordinary growth, with its market capitalization rising from around $350 billion to over $4 trillion 📈.

The Board approved the succession plan unanimously as part of a long-term planning process. Cook will remain in his current role through the summer to ensure a smooth handover.

At Cyber Misfits, we’ll be watching closely to see how this transition shapes Apple’s innovation strategy and hardware focus in the years ahead 🚀.

What are your thoughts on this leadership change? Will John Ternus bring a fresh, hardware-driven perspective to Apple’s next chapter?

It was a great opportunity to hear updates from the Senator while networking with local community leaders.
