Just wrapped up this install. This one was fun. Customer moved to a new location. We had to use a little creativity to stay within budget, but In the end we have a clean install and a solid network.
The first order of business was to move the location of the network rack from the service shop area, to the office space on the second floor. We pulled all new cable and installed a new patch panel. We ended up using the existing network rack, which didn’t quite accommodate everything we needed it to, but we made it work.
-Firewall/Internet
USG Firewall, with 4G LTE backup internet over a Peplink router. The UniFi USG handles the failover. This is our, “go-to,” model for back up internet. Very popular, particularly in the retail space. Having moved this customer to a SIP based phone system, they were concerned about phone availability, should they have any issues with their primary ISP.
UniFi POE switches
2 X 24 port UniFi switches power their Sangoma phones and UniFi AP’s
UniFi AP AC Pro’s
Our gold standard AP. Installed three of these guys, and set up guest internet with custom guest access portal.
Voice
Installed a Void Networks Small Office PBX, which is a FreePBX-based IP phone system, paired with Sangoma VoIP phones. We setup SIP trunk service with Flowroute, and built out a ton of features including IVR, call queuing, streaming music on hold, etc. The phone system was an easy sell. These guys have been paying over $1100 a month to Windstream, for years. Their new setup will pay for itself after the first couple months.
Next up for these guys, UniFi NVR/IP cameras, and Algo IP speakers.
