A member of the fitness team, Abigail owns the mechanical design process of entry-level running smartwatches and contributes to the development of other key fitness products.
From start to finish, Abigail prides herself on helping take a product from early concept to mass production. In fact, it’s her favorite part of the job.
“We like to say we work on each product from cradle to grave,” Abigail said. “I get to see the products I design on the shelves at stores and, more importantly, out in the world, helping improve customers’ lives.”
She first came to Garmin as an intern. More than four years later, Abigail has played a major role in bringing to market the Forerunner 165, Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 watches, just to name a few.
She’s in the room for early brainstorming all the way through prototype testing, launch and even post-production. After a product hits the market, Abigail works with the quality team to review any returns tied to the mechanical design.
“Yes, I do get the super dirty, sweaty customer return watches back on my desk,” she said.
Abigail’s personal passion is cycling, but she knows the runners who wear Garmin’s popular running watches. She says Garmin is where her work and hobbies meet.
“I’m constantly pushed to be a better mechanical engineer and I get to design really cool products,” she said.
