Seeing complaints of people losing money because of scammers pretending to be government agency, power company or others.
1. Never give out Social Security Number on an inbound call. If they are legitimate you can call them back on number they provide. Even if they give you a valid number, it won't be answered with using the agencies proper name.
2. Never give Medicare number on an inbound call.
3. Never give credit card information, especially the security code on an inbound call
Microsoft NEVER calls you about a problem.
Don't give someone you do not know access your computer (or phone).
I do remote repairs but I ALWAYS make sure the customer knows me, and that they know how to disconnect if uncomfortable.
If someone has been in from past, it is frequent they leave a pathway to get back in.
