A compromised website does not always announce itself.

The homepage may look normal. Staff may still be able to log in. Forms may continue working.

Meanwhile, the site could be used for spam, phishing pages, malicious redirects or other activity happening largely out of view.

Sometimes the first visible sign is an email-delivery problem, a search-engine warning or an alert from a monitoring system.

That is one reason “the website is still working” is a poor measure of whether an unsupported platform is still safe to operate.

A lot of smaller organizations assume they are unlikely to be worth an attacker’s time.

That assumption made more sense when finding and exploiting vulnerabilities required more manual effort.

Today, automated scanning and AI-assisted tools make it easier to search large numbers of websites for known weaknesses. An attacker does not have to choose your organization specifically. Your website can simply be one of thousands being checked.

That matters even more when a site is running software that no longer receives security updates.

Squarespace has been adding features. Its prices have also gone up.

Those two things are related, but they are not automatically the same as added value for every organization.

If your website mainly needs to provide clear information, collect forms, support a few integrations, and stay reliable, a growing list of built-in tools may not materially improve the website.

Before your next renewal, look at what you are actually using.
• Which features matter to your organization?
• Which ones are included but untouched?
• Which ones solve a real problem?
• Which ones are simply part of the package now?

A platform can still be a good fit after a price increase. The useful comparison is not how many features are included. It is whether the platform still matches what your organization needs.

The arrangement underneath it has changed.

Squarespace controls its prices, plan structure, included features, editing tools, and integrations. Its customers decide whether those terms still work for them.

That arrangement can make sense for a small website that is easy to manage internally. It becomes harder when the site has accumulated forms, scheduling tools, payment systems, document archives, multiple editors, and business-critical information.

The recent Squarespace increase is a useful point to review whether the platform still fits the organization the website serves today.

The answer may still be yes.
The important part is making that decision deliberately.

That does not automatically mean it is time to move your website.

It does mean this is a good time to understand what your organization is paying for and what it currently depends on.

Before renewing, check:
• Which plan you have and which features you actually use
• Who controls your domain name
• Where your form submissions are stored
• Which scheduling, email, payment, or analytics tools are connected
• What content could be exported if you eventually moved

A website platform can still be the right choice after a price increase. The decision should be based on what your organization needs now, rather than how easy the platform was to choose several years ago.

They move through calendars, forms, policies, department pages, and downloadable documents to accomplish what they came to do. Accessibility should follow the same path your visitors do.
