Tech Tip Tuesday: Public Wi-Fi Is Not Private 🌐

Coffee shops, airports, and hotels are fine for a quick connection, but avoid signing into banking, shopping, or other sensitive accounts on public Wi-Fi if you can help it. If you need to use it, stick to trusted websites, turn off auto-join, and use your phone's hotspot for anything important. Share this with someone heading out on summer trips. ✈️

Tech Tip Tuesday: That Virus Warning Might Be Fake ⚠️

If a pop-up suddenly says your computer is infected and tells you to call a number, do not click it or give anyone remote access. Close the browser tab, then run a scan with Windows Security or your trusted antivirus instead. Real security alerts do not use countdown timers and panic tactics. Share this with someone who might call first. πŸ’»

Tech Tip Tuesday: That Delivery Text Might Be Fake πŸ“¦

Scammers love sending "your package is delayed" texts with a link that looks urgent. If you were not expecting a shipment, or the message asks for a small fee to redeliver it, do not tap the link. Open the store or carrier app yourself and check tracking there instead. Share this with someone who orders online a lot. ⚠️

Tech Tip Tuesday!

Your email account is the key to almost everything else, so take two minutes this week to check your recovery phone number and backup email. If those recovery options are old or no longer yours, update them now so you are not locked out when you need access most. It is one of the simplest ways to make account recovery much less painful.

Share this with someone who has not checked their recovery info in a while.

Tech Tip Tuesday!

Before you sell, donate, or trade in an old phone or laptop, take a few minutes to protect your personal information. Back up the photos and files you want to keep, sign out of your accounts, then run a full factory reset before handing it off. Removing the device from your Apple, Google, or Microsoft account afterward is a good final check.

Share this with someone getting ready to upgrade their device.

Tech Tip Tuesday: Spring Clean Your Digital Life! πŸŒΈπŸ”

Old, forgotten accounts are one of hackers' favorite backdoors. Time to clean house.

πŸ—‘οΈ Delete apps you haven't opened in 3 months
πŸ“§ Search "unsubscribe" in your inbox and cut 10 email lists today
πŸ”‘ Close accounts on sites you no longer use
πŸ“‹ Remove outdated saved passwords from your browser
πŸ”’ Turn on two-factor authentication anywhere it's still missing

Pro Tip: A 10-minute cleanup today closes doors hackers have been quietly checking for years.

Tech Tip Tuesday: Tax Season Scams - Don't Take the Bait! 🎣

Scammers know you're thinking about taxes right now, and they're counting on it.

Watch for these red flags:

🚨 Texts or emails claiming to be the IRS β€” the IRS contacts you by mail first, never by text or email
🚨 "You owe money, pay now or face arrest" β€” this is always a scam, no exceptions
🚨 Requests to pay via gift card, wire transfer, or cryptocurrency β€” real agencies never ask for this
🚨 Links to "check your refund status" from an unknown source β€” go directly to IRS.gov instead
🚨 Calls with pre-recorded threats β€” hang up immediately

Pro Tip: The IRS will never demand immediate payment without giving you a chance to question or appeal. When in doubt, go to IRS.gov directly or call 1-800-829-1040.

Tech Tip Tuesday: Your Computer Remembers Everything You Copied! πŸ“‹

Most people only know Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V, but Windows has a built-in clipboard history that stores everything you have copied, not just the last item.

Here is how to use it:

πŸ”΅ Press Windows key + V instead of Ctrl+V
πŸ”΅ A panel opens with your full copy history
πŸ”΅ Click any item to paste it, even if you copied it an hour ago
πŸ”΅ Pin items you paste constantly so they never disappear

To turn it on the first time, go to Settings > System > Clipboard and enable Clipboard history.

Pro Tip: This works for text, links, and images, saving you from copying the same thing twice.

Tech Tip Tuesday: Stop Reusing Passwords, the Easy Way! πŸ”’

The average person has over 100 online accounts, and most people use the same password for way too many of them. One breach can unlock everything from your email to your bank.

A password manager fixes this without the headache:

πŸ”‘ It generates strong, unique passwords for every account
πŸ“± It auto-fills your logins on any device, phone, laptop, or tablet
πŸ›‘οΈ You only need to remember ONE master password
⚑ Most browsers have one built in already (Chrome, Edge, Safari)

Pro Tip: Start by saving just your top 5 most important accounts (email, bank, social media). You'll wonder why you didn't do this sooner.

Tech Tip Tuesday: AI Can Now Clone Your Voice! πŸŽ™

Scammers are using AI to clone voices from social media videos, then calling your family pretending to be you in an emergency.

Here's how to stay protected:

πŸ”΄ Create a secret family "code word" to verify real emergencies over the phone
🚩 Never send money based on a phone call alone, no matter how real it sounds
πŸ“΅ Hang up and call back on a number you already know
πŸ”’ Review your social media privacy settings to limit who hears your voice

Pro Tip: A 3-second video clip is enough for scammers to clone a voice. Less public audio means less risk.
