“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

Have you ever felt a tug-of-war between the "business" of church and the heart of the Gospel? I’ve spent a lot of time asking the Lord why He placed me in this industry and what my true purpose is.

The answer keeps bringing me back to a shift in perspective. We aren’t just "marketing"—we are answering a call.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 NIV

I’m realizing that while marketing is often transactional, Jesus is purely transformational. One is about profit, but the other is about the "honey"—the sweetness of His presence.

Jesus was so protective of this distinction that He overturned the tables in the temple. He told them: "To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!" (John 2:16 NIV)

It wasn't just about the coins; it was about His zeal for the House of God. As it says in Psalm 69:9: "for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me."

Jesus doesn't want us to "sell" the Gospel; He wants us to connect and develop relationships. He is clearing the noise so we can see the heart.

What do these verses say to you? I’m still processing this journey—I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Stay tuned for Part 2.

Just a reminder that next week (not this coming week) that I’ll be out of office Monday, 12/22-Friday, 01/02. Wrapping everything up the 19th and I’ll be back in for regular office hours the 5th! Of course I’ll be around for urgent needs if so. Time to unwind and reset for 2026.

Throughout my life, I’ve uprooted and relocated 22 times, each move a new chapter in a different place.

One profound truth I’ve carried with me is that a home isn’t built from walls or rooted in a specific address. It’s woven together by the people who surround you. They’re the ones who transform an unfamiliar space of belonging.

Whether it’s the colleagues who share laughter and challenges at work, the book club members who spark lively debates over dog-eared pages, the neighbors who show up at community gatherings with warm smiles, or the familiar faces you reconnect with at an annual event, it’s these human connections that create a sense of home.

Each interaction, no matter how small, stitches together a feeling of comfort, safety, and community that makes any place feel like where you’re meant to be.

About:

I’m Julie. A lot of people call me Jules.

I’m a mother of a very active boy and the wife of a sweet man. Most of my time is spent singing nursery rhymes or crawling like a lion on the floor. Sure, I’m a very youthful person but I have a serious side!

I enjoy designing whether that be a website/logo, a t-shirt, a watercolor/acrylic framed photos, recycled jewelry or a new coffee blend. Over the years, I have become interested in many areas of the art world.

In college, I really enjoyed the marketing classes at Berea College. Not just marketing, but the photography class I took with Dr. Alan Mills. I hung out with cermaic artists, poets, web designers, photographers and more. Berea gave me a diverse perspective in life. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business in 2013. Ever since 2013, I have dug into different creative projects.
