Hey to all my Restoration, friends and colleagues
I’m diving back into the basics of our industry, and I want to create a comprehensive resource that covers not just the technical and business aspects of running a restoration business, but also the invaluable lessons that we never learned in any course—whether it be IICRC, RIA, Xactimate, or others.
I’m reaching out to all of you, successful business owners and industry veterans, to share the nuggets of wisdom you’ve picked up along the way—things you wish you had known when you first started, that weren’t taught in any formal training.
We understand that some of these insights will be subjective, like personal opinions or strategies, while others will be more objective, such as crucial OSHA guidelines or best practices. With that in mind, we plan to split the content of the final document into fact-based sections and opinion-based sections, ensuring that readers can clearly distinguish between the two.
My goal is to collectively source this knowledge, organizing it into a document that blends factual, objective information with subjective, experience-based insights. Think of it as a blend between a standard and a reference guide, crafted by those who have been in the trenches.
We’re building this document in public, and I’d love for you to be part of it. Please comment with your email address if you’re interested in receiving a copy when it’s ready. And if you could, share one, two, or even three things that you learned the hard way—lessons that weren’t covered in any training class but turned out to be crucial in your success.
Once we’ve compiled and formatted everything, we’ll be sharing this resource across all the restoration group pages, free for everyone in the industry.
Looking forward to your insights and contributions!
