WE’RE GOING OFF GRID. ☀️⚡️

While everyone else was sleeping in Saturday morning, I was at the shop installing STAGE ONE of our fully off-grid solar system.

Because around here, we don’t just talk about independence.

WE BUILD IT, EASY WORK. 🤘😎⚡️

STAGE ONE:

☀️ 10 × 550W solar panels
⚡️ 5.5 kW peak generation / 25 kW daily solar harvest

🔋 8 × 5,000Wh 48v 100 Ah batteries mounted on two independent battery racks to make 🔋 40 kWh total storage

⚡️ 5 × 5 kW power stations with built in AC inverters to divide the power to the transfer switch before the panel
⚡️ 25 kW total AC output

I’m using five independent 5 kW power stations to divide the shop’s electrical loads across multiple circuits, with two 20 kWh battery racks acting as our reserve.

I learned a lot building my smaller off-grid system at home, so this setup is designed to scale.

The power stations have built-in AC inverters, solar regulators and MPPT controllers, allowing the solar array to recharge the system every day while the batteries maintain our reserve.

And this is ONLY STAGE ONE.

Stages TWO and THREE will add more solar capacity so we can harvest enough power during the day to replenish the system while maintaining a serious reserve.

WHY?
Because I’ve been doing this since 2005, and business has taught me one thing:

S**T HAPPENS.

2008 recession.
COVID.
Supply chain chaos.
Economic uncertainty.
Power outages.

The world stops sometimes.

You don’t prepare AFTER it happens.

You prepare BEFORE. 🤘

I bought my building in outright in CASH, Zero Morgage because I wanted full ownership.

I invested in high end printing equipment, manufacturing equipment, 3D printers and product development infrastructure because I wanted capability.

Now I’m investing in my own power infrastructure because I want independence.

I didn’t build all this just to have somebody flip a switch and tell me when I can work. 🙄

That’s what we do.

While everyone sees the finished product sitting on a retail shelf, they rarely see the thousands of hours of design, engineering, prototyping, testing, revisions, and problem solving that happen behind the scenes.

Lately we’ve been deep in CAD development, engineering retail packaging, creating custom injection mold concepts, and running our 3D printer farm around the clock to develop an entirely new cargo management program that will soon be hitting major big box retailers and club stores across the country.

This is what gets us excited. Taking an idea that exists only in someone’s head and transforming it into a physical product that thousands of people will eventually pick up off a retail shelf.

Threaded Merch has grown far beyond screen printing. This summer has been an absolute blur. 🤘😎🚀

While everyone sees the finished product on the shelves, they don’t always see the months of ideation, industrial design, engineering, packaging, sourcing, prototyping, manufacturing, importing, logistics, and retail planning that happen behind the scenes.

Over the last few months we’ve been busy helping bring new products to market with brands like Channellock and Member’s Mark, among other high level retail brands while also expanding our own private label brands into Big Box retailers and Club Stores across the country.

Threaded Merch has always been about creating something Rad! Sometimes that means premium merch and apparel. Other times it means developing physical products from a sketch on paper all the way to a retail shelf. Design has never been limited to ink on a T-shirt. It’s about solving problems, building brands, and creating products people “actually use.”

If we’re not printing merch, we’re designing, manufacturing, importing, and distributing products that end up in stores nationwide.

Thank you to every client, partner, retailer, and supporter who’s been part of this journey. None of this happens without your trust. We been building for the last 25 years, and every year, we continue to grow and every summer as we continue to level up, it always feels like We’re just getting started, level after level, and we’re going to keep pushing, keep creating, and keep raising the bar.

This year, when I haven’t been designing and ink slinging merch or building brands for Fortune 500 companies, I’ve been quietly pouring everything into something I’ve been incredibly excited about.

This year, I’ve been developing our new lighting program to introduce to the market. TheBoson Lighting Program, a private label brand that’s rolling into major retailers & club stores like Sam’s Club, AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, & NAPA.

We’re talking about 42 different products launching simultaneously. Rechargeable lighting solutions built for commercial trades, automotive professionals, camping and recreation, and everyday home use. We’re also introducing rechargeable solar charging kits to extend the versatility of the lineup. Some of these lights crank out an incredible 12,000 working lumens.

Tactical flashlights. Headlamps. Neck lamps. Pocket lights. Magnetic work lights. Dual beam systems. Built in power banks. Every product was designed with real world functionality in mind.

This project is not just some “white label” products.
I’ve been sketching concepts, creating CAD renderings, building physical prototypes on our 3D printers, sourcing with trusted overseas manufacturing partners, developing the branding, designing the packaging system, creating style guides, product manuals, videography, retail planograms, point of sale displays, marketing assets, and the new ecommerce experience. Then countless early mornings and late nights working with retail buyers to bring this entire program to life.

This is the kind of work I love. Taking an idea from a sketchbook and watching it become something people can actually pick up off a retail shelf.

This fall we’ll be back in Las Vegas with the entire Allied team at AAPEX and SEMA 2026, officially debuting the new Boson lineup alongside the latest CargoLoc products and giving everyone a sneak peek at what’s coming next for Pro-Grade.

It’s been one of the busiest years of my career, and I’m beyond excited to finally start sharing what we’ve been building behind the scenes.

Most people only see the product on the shelf. We get to see it from the very first sketch.

Every product starts as an idea.

Then comes the strategy, industrial design, CAD design to R&D 3D printing to create the actual product, engineering, branding, packaging, custom dielines, physical mockups, revisions, testing, and countless hours refining every detail until it’s retail ready.

There are no shortcuts when building a product and introducing it to the market. From sourcing factories for mass production, to importing containers full of pallets from overseas to fulfill club stores, to building the branding, creating a product manual, and facilitating meetings with club stores to get the product into the program, every step takes time, resources, and capital.

Here’s a sneak peek at the next generation of Members Mark flashlight sets we’ve been commissioned to develop for Sam’s Club. After last year’s successful program, we’re proud to be bringing a second wave of new flashlight sets to club stores.

This is the part of product development people rarely see. Cutting prototypes. Folding packaging by hand. Building physical mockups. Creating custom packaging dielines not templates or clip art. Fine tuning every panel, every insert, every graphic, and every detail before production ever begins.

Anyone can design something that looks good on a screen. The real challenge is creating a product that tells a story, stands out on a crowded shelf, survives the supply chain, and earns its place in a shopping cart.

And when you’re working with big box club stores, anything can go wrong. You’re waiting not net 30, not net 60, but a whole 365 days for payment on the entire program. It takes a lot of resources and capital to make it all happen.

But here we are. Still crushing it.

That’s what we love to build.

“Chips on shoulders put chips in pockets.”
It’s an old business saying, and there’s a reason it’s stuck around.

The most resilient entrepreneurs usually have a chip on their shoulder.

Not because they’re bitter. Because they remember.

They remember being underestimated. Being told they weren’t good enough. They remember the failures, the sleepless nights, the empty bank account, and every person who doubted them.

That chip became fuel. ⛽️
Some of us just can’t ever be broken…🤘we just keep going!

It pushed them to learn more, work harder, build smarter, and keep showing up long after everyone else quit.

The goal isn’t to spend your life proving people wrong. It’s to become so good that you don’t have to prove anything to anyone.

A chip on your shoulder can either weigh you down or drive you forward. The difference is what you do with it.
