Over the course of 2024, the VMware Tanzu CloudHealth team has been teasing a new look and feel for Tanzu CloudHealth. In June, at FinOps X in San Diego, the team debuted the Private Beta of our new CloudHealth experience while work continued.

Last week, during FinOps X Barcelona, we announced the Open Beta of the new CloudHealth experience. As part of the Open Beta, the Tanzu CloudHealth team is delivering five of the most asked-for features by customers from the last several years including FlexDashboards, Improved Custom Reports, Improved Asset Reports, Realized Savings Report, and Content Sharing. Now, as part of the Open Beta, customers of the new CloudHealth experience will have access to these highly desired features.

Historically, users were only able to use standard reports as the charts, graphs, and widgets as content that were added to their custom dashboards. Since Custom Report Creation was released, there’s been a regular customer ask to include the ability to embed FlexReports into their Dashboards.

No longer…

As part of the new experience open beta, customers are able to embed multiple custom reports into a single dashboard. This includes reports that would have historically been a FlexReport. Custom Dashboards give users unprecedented flexibility to create an experience tailored specifically to their daily roles and priorities.

The rise of AI has created new opportunities for enterprises to enhance their applications with natural language interfaces and smart features. However, many organizations struggle with the practical aspects of integrating AI capabilities into their existing systems. This is where Spring AI and Cloud Foundry come together to offer a powerful solution.

In a recent Cloud Foundry Weekly podcast (Season 1, Episode 26: Spring AI Zero to Hero), Distinguished Engineer Adib Saikali demonstrated how enterprises can practically integrate AI capabilities into their existing systems.

Our latest blog post explores the key insights from that discussion and provides a roadmap for organizations looking to enhance their applications with AI >>> https://blogs.vmware.com/tanzu/demystifying-ai-integration-with-cloud-foundry-a-spring-ai-deep-dive/

With the upcoming end of open-source support (OSS) for Spring Boot 3.2.x set for November 23, 2024, businesses must carefully plan their next steps.

The end of OSS support marks the point where Broadcom stops providing free public updates for a specific Spring Boot version, including bug fixes, new features, and security patches. For companies relying on Spring Boot 3.2.x and related Spring ecosystem projects, this could lead to vulnerabilities and compatibility issues if they continue using the version without further updates.

To mitigate risks, there is a lifeline through Tanzu Platform(R), providing extended support for Spring Boot 3.2.x.

Navigating software life cycle changes can often feel like steering through uncharted waters, especially involving widely-used frameworks. With the upcoming end of open-source support (OSS) for Spring Boot 3.2.x set for November 23, 2024, businesses must carefully plan their next steps. This blog po...

New blog post >>> Unlocking Security: A Deep Dive into the Local Authorization Server

OpenID Connect (OIDC) is the most widely used framework for enabling Single Sign-On (SSO) for web client applications. It is built on top of the OAuth2 framework, which offers authorization capabilities through “access tokens.” OIDC and leading service providers support OAuth2 and identity management vendors.

Spring supports OIDC and OAuth2 through Spring Security and Spring Boot auto-configuration. Spring developers can quickly start and add support for a third-party identity provider, e.g., their company’s centralized SSO system.

Those SSO systems are typically managed centrally and often require opening tickets to gain access. Even when self-service, they often require specialized knowledge to configure and manage. This can be cumbersome for the “inner loop” experience, where developers work on their machines, or when running integration tests in CI. In those scenarios, working with a centralized system often requires figuring out many details: how are credentials managed? How are environments provisioned and configured? How to simulate the prod environment with high enough fidelity?

Often, developers try to work out a standalone solution that they could run on their machine. The first option is to use a “packaged” product, which can be heavyweight and hard to configure because it is designed for production use. On the other end of the spectrum, some products are too lightweight to support production-like use cases. Developers can also “write their own”, as a last resort, using open-source libraries like Spring Authorization Server – but this is yet more code the team will have to maintain over time.

In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, businesses are eager to stay ahead of the competition. Many organizations have adopted cloud-native architectures, containers, and Kubernetes to gain a competitive edge and deliver workloads that leverage Generative AI and more. Central to this transformation is a necessity for a strong self-service application platform that meets business needs and fosters innovation. The rising focus on control of data, sovereignty, security, and performance has led to a reevaluation of cloud strategies, emphasizing the need for a smarter approach to cloud.

VMware Tanzu Platform and VMware Cloud Foundation offer a holistic solution for cloud-native app development and deployment, enabling the best of both worlds with Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service from your private cloud. Tanzu Platform enhances application delivery, while VMware Cloud Foundation provides a resilient and flexible infrastructure, streamlining operations and reducing complexity. Organizations like Chitale Dairy have successfully transitioned to modern applications using Tanzu and VMware Cloud Foundation. This integration has enabled them to become more agile, responsive, and customer-focused, driving substantial business growth and innovation.
