LinkedIn recently reported that 94% of employees would prefer to work for companies that invest in learning and development.

But finding the balance between completing daily tasks and professional development can be a challenge.

What can you do to motivate employees to keep learning at work?

Regularly schedule learning sessions: Assure employees that making time for learning is not only okay, but encouraged. Schedule learning opportunities at regular intervals.

Celebrate achievements: Appreciate employees who complete required training. Creating a workplace culture that values learning can go a long way towards motivating employees to seek out learning opportunities.

Consider cross-departmental training: Moving personnel between departments can be a great learning exercise. Employees get a chance to pick up new skills and develop a more holistic approach to their work.

Offer regular feedback and guidance: Motivate employees by giving them a chance to ask questions and offering regular feedback about their progress.

They say that behind every overnight success, are a dozen years of hard work and perseverance.

There will be many moments in your journey when you may feel stuck. When you're don't appear to be making any progress. The next time you feel like nothing is working, try these simple steps to get back in the game.

Research the task at hand and reevaluate your goals: Find out more about what it takes to make it in your field. Map out a terrain so you know what checkpoints to look out for.

Understand that progress can be incremental: When clear movement towards your goal is absent, make the effort to notice the small wins. A few words of praise from your boss, an invitation to join a committee—everything counts. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Draw strength from your interpersonal relationships: Surround yourself with trusted advisors and have them help you chart your progress. They can help you figure out whether you need to continue on your current path or take a detour.

Appreciate every win: Don't take small victories for granted. Every step in the right direction is a cause for optimism.

Be open to new possibilities and small changes in direction: Plans rarely work out exactly how they were supposed to. Circumstances change over time and new opportunities may arise, that did not exist before. Make the most of every opportunity to grow.

Positive work relationships are essential to a successful career.

Strong professional relationships make you more productive and increase your job satisfaction.

How do you build positive relationships at work? You can begin by:

Appreciating your colleagues: People like to be recognized for the work they do. When a colleague does good work, offer a few words of praise and appreciation.

Managing your boundaries: Finding work/life balance can be tough sometimes. Setting healthy professional boundaries will help ensure that your work does not spill over into your personal life.

Always acknowledging help received: Give credit where it's due and always acknowledge the help you've received from your colleagues.

Owning up to your blunders: It's perfectly normal to make mistakes occasionally. Don't try to pass the buck. Before you can work to correct your mistake, you need to have an honest conversation about it.

Developing the ability to listen: Listen to your co-workers. It is an important part of building any relationship and will help you understand them better.

Remote interviews are still interviews!

As a recruiting firm, it's not unusual to see candidates who are yet to adjust to the new reality of remote work. While much of the application process remains the same, there are some new challenges that trip up applicants.

With that in mind, we decided to put together this quick list of do's and don'ts for anyone applying for a remote working job.

DON'T:
1) Be casual during the interview: Giving a job interview from your own home does not make it any less of a job interview. Make sure you look presentable and always stay engaged.

2) Misuse access: It's not unusual for hiring managers to share personal contact details when interviewing candidates for a remote job. But this is not an invitation to pester them for updates or invade their privacy.

3) Forget to include keywords in your resume: Read the job ad carefully and make sure to include relevant keywords from the ad in your resume.

Do:
1) Prepare your tech for the interview: Have a stable internet connection, make sure your camera is operational, and that your features are well lit. It's a job interview not a zoom call with your aunt.

2) Show interest in their base of operation: There is a good chance you are not living in the same city, or even country, as your prospective employer. Showing awareness of their local culture and audience can win you brownie points during your interview.

3) Hone your communication skills: Now more than ever you need to bring your communication skills into play. Since the entire hiring process will occur over email and video calls, the way you speak and write is key to your image.

Job hunt getting you down?

We get it. The job search can be a frustrating and exhausting activity, especially when you're not seeing results right away. Refresh your approach to job hunting by taking a few simple steps.

1) Revisit why you want the job: Don't dwell on the fear of not finding the job. Instead, explore the motivation to look for a new role and draw energy from your conviction.

2) Visualize how you'll feel once you have the job: Close your eyes. Think about how you feel about where you are now, and where you would like to be. Embrace the excitement that this feeling gives you. This is your battery.

3) The old plan didn't work? Make a new one: Plans change. Maybe the process you had in place when you started the job hunt is no longer working. Invent a new process. Try a different plan. Stay agile.

4) Focus on what you can control: Hiring managers, recruiters, employers— their decisions are not in your control. Don't focus on what you hope for from the hiring experience. Focus instead on making your part in it as successful as possible.
