You won’t believe this. A guy came in this past week after the UBreakFix store said his phone needed a costly new motherboard… Luckily, he came to us for a second opinion.

Thankfully, he came to Restore Computer Repair. Simple things first, we found the real issue: a charging port clogged with debris and dust. We cleaned it, powered it on, and he safely transferred all his precious data to his new phone.

A nasty storm is rolling in tonight — with strong winds, torrential rain, hail, and even a tornado watch. ⛈️ Flooding is also in the forecast starting at 7 PM. If you’re at home, now’s the time to make sure your computer or laptop doesn’t get caught in the chaos.

Here’s how to protect your setup before the storm hits:

✅ Disconnect your computer and charger — Lightning power spikes can ruin your machine.
✅ Disconnect your TV and game stations — They are just as vulnerable to damage in a storm.
✅ Disconnect Ethernet cords — Lightning can travel through wired internet connections.
✅ Place your laptop away from the floor — Especially in basements or windows.
✅ Do not use corded devices while the storm is ongoing — Safety first.

🛟 Another saved laptop the big chain computer store misdiagnosed

A nearby big chain computer store told this lady the main board in her Samsung laptop was dead, said they couldn’t get the part, and tried to sell her a new laptop and a data recovery service to transfer files from her “dead” machine.

She brought it to us instead.

It wasn’t the main board at all. It was the secondary power button / USB board—a small, inexpensive part. We ordered it, installed it, and everything powered up perfectly again with all her data intact. 💾

We’ve been here in Parkville for the last 18 years and provide honest and thorough repair that always saves you money and headaches. 🛠️

A lady came in our shop yesterday after taking her laptop to the big local Micro chain store because it wouldn’t boot — just a black screen.

They told her she’d need to back up her data, reinstall Windows, and transfer everything back once it was fixed. They quoted her $525 total and even said they might have to send it out to get the data, which could cost even more. Outrageous.

She brought it to us and we did the entire job for $125 — backed up her files, reinstalled Windows, transferred all her data back, and even gave her a flash drive with a full backup to take home.
