Computer, laptop, pc, mac support and repair Having problems with your computer or need advice? I am dedicating my knowledge to help those who need it.

I have spent plenty of my life going from place to place where people who know little or wont tell what they know to make more of a profit on a persons lack of knowledge. I make this page to help all who are looking for help with their pc, mac, tower, laptop, router, switch, etc. What information I give is only based on the information I know and is not sponsored or endorsed by any brand or compan

y. My only personal goal to this is to continue my knowledge in the field of support and repair by understanding what people want and what problems people find themselves facing.

Trying to get back into things. Been trying a good few different ways to get somewhere in life. So this means I have failed. Enough bs talk.

Something I want to talk about since it is such a big thing out there which are apps or sites or groups or really anything were this can fit in. I am talking about those that are free but offer payment for something. That includes facebook itself. You got your standard type issues wondering if it is a secure thing that will be able to protect your info in the first place and even more if you try to buy anything.

With that I want to help others feel more safe on these kind of things. So what can I offer to help? A small search on what ever your trying to do. Yeah pretty sure you know to look for nothing but bad reviews. They suck, no good, best around, peanut butter, etc.... But I want to share a less common issue which can make you feel really bad if it happens. That is being banned. Not because you did something wrong (or feel you didn't anyway), but just being banned out of the blue. That is bad enough but to also not be informed about why you are banned in another.

I will give a personal experience myself. I tried out the site called linkedin to help try to get ahead in life. Had everything set up blah blah. Then get this rude b***h trying to friend me on there. Didn't really try to give me a good answer before spewing hate. She would only say was treating it like facebook where she was trying to get as many friends as she could. After a back and forth I ended up reporting her because her actions are suppose to violate the rules. Well next day I found I got banned. I contacted them and was asking why. There only reply was to read the rules again. I ended up looking it over and no answer so I contacted them again asking what was it that I violated because I don't see it. There reply was the same but they said to just agree to it and they will let me back in. I didn't like that response and to this day I don't know why I got banned but I sent what I thought would be last message saying how unprofessional they are and demanded my info be removed. After a few days I still saw it up and sent them again to remove it or else. Eventually it did happen.

I share this now because I didn't follow through to those warning that I am pointing at now. I am just glad I didn't waste money on them like many others seemed to have then loose it all. So that's the warning. If people are getting banned for something they don't understand and it can cost money, it is best to stay away. It is likely not 100% true but I feel it is up there. Of course this happened long ago so for all I know those terrible workers are long and gone. Or they moved up more. I don't know and don't want to know.

Today's issue/topic, backups. The old saying you don't know what you got until it's gone. As simple as it is to do any of this,we techs can tell you many people don't do this. While I was originally working on another task, this took over when the computer loads up and says welcome instead of user name. To this moment I am still banging my head on how this happened. While many issues can give you mall warnings that you should take notice, it does not always work out that way. This unit was literally working fine the last 24 hours. Now this being family, I am aware that all work they have done on this unit around 5 years is gone do to no back ups being done. Again this was no warning at least that I am aware of, the best I know about this is it seems like it has done a factory reset itself. Yes I do realize the likelihood of this happening is really none existent. I can come up with ideas on why this happened but I can not back it up as fact.

Now with that said, how to back up. In today's world, there are many ways. For me since I do back up important well at least to me important files, I actually have a spare hard drive I use only to put files on it. Maybe not the most secure way to back up but for me it is cost efficient. This is what you need to talk to with a tech (like me) on your best options. Just to list a few, there are online options usually associated with some kind of software you have. For me I have a little bit with my Microsoft account. There are flash drives or more well known cd's. Those who have a lot to back up of data might need to look into external hard drives.

So a finale thought, do you have something you would hate to lose?

Not much going on that I am aware of so I figure I would give my 2 cents on the windows 10. I can't really say I am eager to try it out. Just putting that out first.

I say this only because of a trending pattern I see in today's world. A friend of mine brought up a discussion about video games where games these days are set for sail while still have bugs in them. I actually agree with him and yes I am aware of past games that are buggy as well.

Now I look a bit at the timeline windows has had. XP was a outstanding success. While many were not looking for anything knew, we knew it would eventually come. The next windows to come out was Vista. I had talked with a few who had it or knew about it and they would say it is just problems. I might be able to back this up but from what I heard, it sound like Vista could be claimed as the worst O.S. to date. The needed to fix that mess so came out 7. In short, the fair replacement for xp. Once fixed up they come up with 8. I like many others thought people would love this do to it style to be like a phone. My own shock when I found out how much people hated how this worked. I own 8 and am typing on it now. I do find annoyances here and there but a tweak to this and that fixed all issues I have.

So to recap a bit, xp good, vista bad, 7 good, 8 bad. So it would look like 10 should be a smashing hit. Just to put it out there, I may just be missing out on a good thing. I plan on sticking with what is working for me and will be wary of anything new coming out. I will admit I have seen a few things pop up here and there that does make me interested in 10. I am not a rich person and can't see myself foolishly just spending what I have left just to get the next best thing. For me I tend to look back on past things to enjoy more of the current things, that's if I am able to get them some time down the road. I will admit from time to time I look at DOS and remind myself how much things have progressed since those old days when I didn't even know what cd was for just what it did.

I know I don't do much but when I feel something needs to be shared, I will take the time. My latest test to my knowledge is malware. More to the point of what will work on what.

I will mention first the worst experience I have had with a antivirus program is Norton. I have had it in the past and have helped of others mostly family with problems related to Norton. It usually revolves around virus removal. Have seen from time to time it doesn't remove this virus here or this virus there. On note will mention I am aware not all anti programs can remove every virus. That is why there are so many programs out there. This would not be the worst I find with Norton. The biggest problem I have had with Norton is removing it. Every time I went to remove it, I felt like I had to treat it like a virus. Were simply just removing is a task I can't really say I trust a program to removing things if I have a problem removing that program.

Now to why I have choose to post this is due to a adware infection I was working on another computer. When the person was talking to me it sounded like a simple infection and a removal program should remove it. McAfee was the program installed and it was not detecting the adware. I ended up using Windows Defender to detect it and again it was not finding the problem. So now I am believing this problem was well hidden. I did some research and 2 popular programs I found in my search were Adwearcleaner and Spybot. Ran Spybot, took a lot of time, I felt good using it. I find myself patient and this program was testing me. When it finished I felt like we are done and unfortunately it was still there. I took a break after that then ended up using the Adwearcleaner. How fast this program worked feels like I blinked. This went fast and I do mean fast. Out of everything used I found this was the only program that got me anywhere. I actually found out where the adwear was in the system. While wanting to do a party, I wanted to finish this and let the program remove the adware. I did, followed it's instructions. Computer comes back online, says it is removed, test it and failed. At this point I don't expect any company to spend this much time on a malware problem for this long. Only reason I am working on it for this long is the usual response, no back up done on the system. While everything was looking grim, I continued to look to see what else I can try. I ended up finding a program called Unhackme. I did try a few others but like everything else, they failed. Not feeling confident in anything else will work I was using this one because I didn't have much of a choice. Still had the computer so might as well continue even if I think it is futile. Well the short answer, we have a winner. This is the one program that I found that worked. Unhackme did what everything else could not do and remove this adware from the computer. As much as I am praising this program, I will caution, this program is not for the untrained. From what I understood about it, it looks at all the files on the computer and will list anything that will fit the criteria of malware. That can and will include programs that are not made to be harmful but have coding similar to malware programs. To put it simply, you can damage your system by removing the wrong files. The main reason I was able to do this fast was only because of Adwearcleaner informed me of where the problem was located. I looked for where it was located and told the program to remove it. Now if I had money to spare, I would have just paid them just for doing this just because of all the time I wasted trying to fix this mess. This may be promoting them by posting this but I feel they deserve much more then what I can give them right now.

ATTENTION. Facebook virus on the loose. Had a friend contact me seconds ago saying my contact info has been leaked. They put a link up wanting me to take a look. The link was a zip file. For those who don't know, they are files compressed, not links to anything. Protect yourself from this malware and DO NOT OPEN IT.

Just a warning to people out there, there is a upgrade to windows explorer 8 that can cause a processor to max out your cpu if you are still using xp. As of now I am not aware of any other O.S. that are effected by this. There is a fix to this problem and hopefully no one has to deal with it.

While still trying to get off the ground, I have pondered what should come up next. Then it hit me. I will ask anyone who knows of a problem or has something they know about and I shall try to identify and clarify what it is.
