🔒 Is Your Home Wi-Fi Really Safe?

Most people think their internet is protected just because it has a password. But that’s not always true. Hackers, smart gadgets, and even your internet company could be seeing more than you realize.

📊 Quick Facts:

Most home networks get hit with 10 break-in attempts every day

A recent attack broke into over 9,000 home internet systems

Nearly 2 out of 3 people use the same password for everything

Smart devices like cameras and speakers often go months or years without updates

Your internet company can still see which websites you visit, even if they look secure

Cheap tools can let strangers nearby listen in on your internet activity

Some tricks can send you to fake websites without you knowing

✅ Simple Fixes:

Change your Wi-Fi password

Update your internet box (router)

Use a separate Wi-Fi for guests and smart gadgets

Turn on your firewall (a safety setting in your router)

Use a VPN to keep your browsing private

Use a safer internet setting like Cloudflare to block bad websites

🚨 WARNING: DANGEROUS EMAIL SCAM GOING AROUND! 🚨

If you get an email that looks like this:

From: Michele
Subject: "Thanks! 1 Photograph: 1993-1999 from Michele"
Message: “You might remember these pictures... Well, I hope so”
And it includes a strange-looking link like this: http://www.zjudw.ieiutpwe.###x/

📛 DO NOT CLICK THE LINK!
This is a phishing attempt — a scam to trick you into clicking a dangerous link that could infect your device or steal your personal info.

It may look harmless or even friendly, but it’s not. Even the Carl Sagan quote at the end is just a trick to make it seem real.

👉 What to do:
✅ Delete the email right away
❌ Do NOT click any links
📢 Warn your friends and family

Stay safe online! 🛡️

🚨 **Beware of Social Security Phishing Scams Targeting Retirees!** 🚨

Scammers are impersonating the **Social Security Administration (SSA)** in an effort to steal personal information from retirees. They might call, email, or text, claiming there’s an issue with your Social Security benefits. These fraudsters may demand sensitive information like your **Social Security number**, **bank account details**, or **login credentials**—often threatening legal action if you don’t act quickly.

💡 **How to protect yourself:**

1. **Remember:** The SSA will never contact you by phone or email to ask for personal info.
2. **Don’t give out personal information** over the phone or email to unfamiliar sources.
3. **Report suspicious activity** to the SSA or the **Federal Trade Commission (FTC)** if you think you’ve been targeted.

Stay alert and help protect our seniors from these scams! 🛡️

As You Travel This 4th of July Weekend, Stay Safe Online with These Simple Tips! ⚡️
Heading to the airport or out of town this holiday weekend? 🛫🚗 As you travel, be aware of public USB charging stations and Wi-Fi hotspots. Cybercriminals could be lurking, trying to steal your personal info or infect your devices with malware.

🔒 Top 5 Safety Tips to Protect Your Devices:

Avoid Public USB Charging Stations – Cybercriminals can hack these ports to steal data or install malware. Always use your own charger or a portable power bank instead. 🔋

Use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) – A VPN encrypts your internet connection, making it safer when using public Wi-Fi at airports or cafes. Think of it as a secret tunnel for your data! 🔐

Bring Your Own Charger – Skip public charging stations and plug into wall outlets instead. It's the safest way to avoid “Juice Jacking.” ⚡

Disable Automatic File Sharing – Prevent your device from automatically sharing files when plugged into unknown USB ports. Protect your data! 💾

Keep Your Software Updated – Ensure your phone, laptop, or tablet has the latest security patches. Hackers love targeting outdated software. 🛡️
