Wildermiss brought the live festival energy to the room during AMERICANAFEST sessions at WELCOME TO 1979.

Recorded and mixed by 5x GRAMMY-winner Brandon Bell, this set was tracked with a practical AEA chain: KU5A on vocals, N13 on the guitar amp, and TDI + TDI Duo on synths to keep the DI sources consistent and clean in the mix.

Before the first take, the sound is already being shaped.

The R44CE delivers a warm, full-bodied starting point with smooth top end, rich low end, and classic Big Ribbon character. Its generous proximity effect makes it a great choice for bringing depth and intimacy to vocals, while its natural ribbon tone works just as well across acoustic instruments, horns, strings, and more.

Simple, high-fidelity capture in a world-class room. 🎙️

Captured on the A440 and N28, Patrick Dwyer's performance at Ocean Way Nashville Studios during AMERICANAFEST showcases the natural beauty of recording with ribbons. The stereo ribbon gives the guitar depth and space without hype, and the A440 keeps the vocal warm, full, and right where you want it.

One of the most important jobs on the Foo Fighters tour? Micing Dave Grohl's amp. FOH engineer Antony King trusts the AEA KU5A to put in the work.

On a loud stage, bleed and feedback are always part of the battle. The KU5A’s tight supercardioid pattern helps keep the amp focused and controlled without losing that natural ribbon tone.

Hear it live for yourself on FF’s current tour!

“It’s about finding the simple beauty in things and presenting them in a way that feels alive.” — The Milk Carton Kids

For Lost Cause Lover Fool, The Milk Carton Kids and sound engineer Jason Cupp focused on shaping the stereo image at the source. AEA N22 and N28 ribbon mics captured the dimensionality of the performance, while twelve channels of TRP3 preamps helped clean up the signal path, remove troubleshooting, and keep the focus on the music.

Anyone who’s set up a Blumlein pair before knows the struggle. 🎙️🎙️

The R44 Blumlein Jig keeps two R44s locked into place at the proper angle, making stereo setup faster, cleaner, and way less frustrating.

There’s nothing like a great song, a great performance, and one Big Ribbon to capture it all. 🎙️✨

Gabe Lee and Natalie Del Carmen perform “Drink the River” at 2200 Studios in a single take on the R44C, as part of John Cuniberti OneMic Recording Series. No edits, no extra production—just the raw performance exactly as it happened in the room.

Big congrats to Frankie Jonas & The Byzantines on their headlining tour this August—kicking off with the first stop in Nashville. 👏

To celebrate, here’s a favorite moment from their AMERICANAFEST 2025 session performing “Break the Levee.” It’s the kind of performance you feel the moment the music starts.

Recorded live at WELCOME TO 1979 and mixed by 5x GRAMMY-winner Brandon Bell.

We had such a great time at Superbooth 2026 in Berlin!

Shows like this are always a good reminder of why we love being part of this industry. From conversations about the latest from AEA to catching up with longtime dealers, friends, customers, artists, and fellow pro audio makers, the week was full of great people and great conversations.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by!

Until next time, Berlin. ♥️
