Your brand visuals can be sooo much more than just a set of logos and a pretty color palette. There are so many opportunities to add in little details that make the brand feel layered, full of personality, and intentional from top to bottom.

One of my favorite ways to do that lately is with custom brand illustrations.

They add personality, help tell your story + give you so much many more creative possibilities when it comes to your website, social media posts, packaging, print pieces… all the things.

Swipe through for a little breakdown on brand illustrations & some ideas for actually using them.

Choosing brand fonts is all fun & games until you’re 47 fonts deep in Canva and suddenly they all look the same 😵‍💫

Here’s the thing. A font can be cute. You can love it. You can reeeeaaaalllly want to use it.

And it can still be completely wrong for your brand 😬

Because fonts have personalities, too. Some are sophisticated. Some are playful. Some are cool without trying. Some look like they definitely own a tiny bookstore somewhere in Europe.

The magic is finding the ones that feel like your brand — and then knowing how to actually use them.

In this post, we’re talking font personalities, pairings, hierarchy, spacing + all the little typography details that take your brand from “I picked some fonts” to “okayyyy, she’s got her s**t together.”

And save this one for your next Canva font spiral. You know it’s coming 🫶🏽

From the logo graveyard 🪦

This pretty little lily icon was a rejected concept from a current branding project that’s in the works.

As a designer, sometimes I hit the nail on the head with the first proof - but sometimes it takes a few different iterations to get the design to a place that my client is like “YES that’s IT.”

Normally those designs wouldn’t see the light of day but I had to show this one off before sending it to the archives 💌

5 things that are ‘worth it’ as a brand + web designer👇🏽

These can be the difference between a brand that looks expensive from one that just tries to 🥱

→ Professional brand photography - having quality images to utilize in graphics and your website is a MUST
→ Professional copywriting - the best design in the world can’t save words that don’t say anything
→ Brand strategy (before any design happens) - design without strategy is just decoration
→ Custom brand assets (illustrations, patterns, textures) - the little details add depth and connection to your brand
→ Premium fonts - can make a huge difference in the overall look and feel of the brand

Which one are you guilty of skipping? 💬
