Tech Tip: On most newer Windows PCs, a feature called Fast Startup means clicking Shut Down does not fully power the system down. Part of the session is saved and reloaded to make the next boot faster. Restart is the option that actually clears everything out and finishes applying certain updates.

So when your computer gets slow or acts strange, choose Restart, not Shut Down. Restart gives the machine a true fresh start.

A weekly restart clears memory, completes updates, and prevents a surprising share of the slowness reported to helpdesks everywhere.
